New (to me) WK2 - why is modding this car so fun?!?!

Hey Guys, I'm new here so I figured I'd introduce myself. My name is Ian and I live in Honolulu Hawaii. I was fortunate enough to pick up a fellow forum member's 2011 WK2 while it only had 8k miles on it (see thread: WK2 Black with Black grille & tinted taillights debadged Pictures!)!

What it came with:
* Overland grill painted black
* Custom tinted rear tail lights
* shark-fin antenna
* debadged

In the past month I've added:
* 20" overland wheels
* 275/55/20 Bridgestone Dueler tires
* Overland chrome bumper trim
* Katskin leather
* Escort ZR4 laser jammer
* Automatic climate control
* 5000k HIDs
* 20% window tint, and
* OEM reverse camera.

All of the work was done by me except the window tinting - it was definitely a learning process. After all is said and done it probably would have been easier to just start with an overland but mods are always fun and I've found that Mopar parts are surprisingly affordable. Any how here are a few pics of the process and the finished product. Last time I had this much fun modding a car I was driving an 05 Evo MR.

For you offroad enthusiasts here is my other project:

Have you tested the shifters like that behind the grill? I've read that they need to be "open" and free from obstruction.

great ride(s) btw!!!

Thanks! I've had quite a few SUVs in the past -- including a Range Rover Sport SC, 4Runner, LR3, Tahoe -- and I gotta say without a doubt the Grand Cherokee is my favorite.

Lysol - I didn't get a chance to test the zr4 in the Jeep but I did test it in my old 335i with the modules placed behind the grill and it worked just fine. Definitely a must have here in Hawaii where the police only use laser and one can be arrested for driving in excess of 80mph.

I have yet to even see a laser alert on my 9500ix. Though, I'm sure it would pretty much be telling me to just pull over by the time I saw "laser". Do you run a detector along with the zr4 or no need to?

I have a detector but I only use it when I travel to the continental US - No point here in Hawaii since they use laser exclusively. Seems more recently a radar detector is getting more and more useless. I think most police are using laser these days.

I'm actually going on a trip tomorrow. taking the Jeep and gotta use the good ole suction cups mount. I'm really thinking about the 9500ci but at about $2k installed, not sure yet. Do you have a kill switch for the jamming or is it timed?

Great looking rides, both of them. Funny the Lexus is off-roady while the jeep is the one with creature comfort mods ;-)

Hah yeah i like to try and be different. When im offroading most people give me the "wtf" look. But really its just a reskinned land cruiser prado and works great off road.

I was going to put the terra grapplers on the grand cherokee but after scraping the front lip on a parking block i figured whats the point. I realize the front fascia can come off but thats just too much work ....shoulda got one with quadralift.
