Currently sitting at a local auto shop that does lighting systems and installs.. Surprise surprise, the headlights aren't functioning correctly or even close to working right. The wiring harness is not at all "plug and play" like they stated it would be and this place tried everything they could. Even tried out their own harness setup and no dice. One headlight constantly flickers on all settings, only one LED halo works normally and the other only turns on with the high beams on. No high beam function itself from the bi xenons either.

I'm not even sure they sent me all the components I paid for, to be honest, based on what this guy is telling me. From what I know, which granted is very little about lighting, the Morimoto brand is supposed to be great, but he described the halos for example as "cheap Chinese made parts from eBay." Not happy to say the least but I was prepared to hear they wouldn't work. Now I just need to need to start my rant email to TLF. Not even sure what they'll say but I'm eager to hear what excuse will be pulled from their asses.

What a joke.

So this place I brought to do the install is miles ahead of TLF with what they can do and the quality as well. He is going to hold onto the modded lights from TLF and open them back up and get the harness squared away, then we are going to work together on a better way to get the LED halo the way I want. So basically, I should've come to this place from the start. He has multiple builds with custom lighting coming back from SEMA and knows his shit. Sad I didn't find him sooner...

But beware of TLF because I just did most of the heavy lifting before you guys found out the hard way yourselves.

Yeah after what I just experienced, I'd be pretty worried about the status of your order then.

One of the things I immediately complained to TLF about was their lack of care in sending me any shipping/tracking info when they were sent. Instead of giving me any info, I just showed up to them on my doorstep one day after work, having sat in the rain for who knows how long.

You'd think they would be on that kind of simple customer support, but nope. They apologized about it along with the crummy job they did in fixing the LED halo with wires along the whole piece (hard to see in the photos I took, but really obvious in person. Was hoping they'd look better with the ring on, but they didn't when I saw them testing it out). They also offered to take them back and work on them until I was happy with them, but even before this debacle, I was wary of letting them touch them again in hopes they'd be better.

What a letdown though. I had really high hopes for these guys' business, but this is just wrong.

Thankfully the guy who just attempted the install didn't charge me at all, even after 4 hours of doing everything he could, with about 3 other projects going on simultaneously. That's the kind of customer service I'm looking for and the reason I'm going to have him do the lights right. The way things were supposed to be.

Sorry for the bad news, everyone. I know lots of you were interested and excited to see them, as was I. Unfortunately, this is learning the hard way. But I'll report back whenever I get them all finished an installed. ETA probably sometime before the end of the month. *Fingers crossed*

Oh no!! Man, I was getting hype and have been in email convo back & forth with them. From the email they are attentive and respond pretty fast. Was waiting for your pics before I pulled the trigger. Thank you for this info. I hope others on this forum have any experience with TLF and let us know.

I'm still thinking of adding the 2013 SRT8 headlights with Harness to my 2012 Altitude...but wanted to see how your HID from TLF worked out?

They do respond very quickly when there's a prospective order on the line, but they haven't even responded to a few emails I sent after I got them, but then responded to other ones I sent after that. Not sure what the deal is there.

I found TLF via a user here (LuxMan I think) who had the SRT headlights installed from them on his Jeep and they looked great. Also sounded like a great company to work with based on what I found online and through his experience.

And aside from the mentioned issues, the light output I breifly saw from the HIDs was leaps and bounds ahead of the halogens. But it means fu**all if the system doesn't work.

Seriously, Kenny. Really disappointed.

But I think this local shop is going to do something far better than I imagined. Although, I may very well be close to the cost of the OEM bi xenon mod at that point.

Sucks. Totally feel for you on this. I was going to go with them as well to get some OEM lights and harness or go your route with just customizing the halogens and swapping with some FXRs but after reading this thread and some other forums - not happening.

- it looks like the harnesses for TLF are coming from a person at projectorefrofits who is hard to track down and shady about answering questions / being timely about sending materials.

I guess the only way to get the lights is to make sure next time to put lux II package which I regret not doing.

Not even an option for us Altitude folks. All props and support to Pine for being the guinea pig. Hopefully the new shop will straighten it all out.

Interesting. If I would've known they were coming from that guy, I never would have done it either. Half the reason I wasn't down for the OEM mod was due to everyone being put on the back burner for so long, waiting on him to finish the harness. Thanks for the info.

And amen about the lux II package. I miss quite a few luxuries in my Laredo that seem like they should've been standard for any vehicle at this point...

Thanks, Phil.

Again, I'll let everyone know how they turn out.

Best recommendation I can give is, find a quality shop in your town that actually does good work and stick with them like glue. This place seems like it will be the spot to go from now on and I'm at least grateful to have discovered them out of all this b.s.

2014 Grand Cherokee Headlight mod - JeepForum.com

the thread is a little old but it connects the owner of the place you ordered from and tuxedoblack11 who is the owner of that projectoretrofit site. you can even see pics of the harness he was creating.

hope the new shop can get what was sent to you to work.
