Finally got word that my custom headlights from The Lighting Firm just shipped and I'm really excited to see how they turned out in person. Very happy with how they look in the photo so far.
They are OEM blacked out halogen housings, upgraded with Bi-Xenon projectors and LED daytime running lights, with blacked out side markers. (They used FXR Projectors and 35w Morimoto system)
Considering how much trouble and time people were putting into the OEM Bi-Xenon mod, this alternative was much cheaper and reliable with the plug and play harness they are providing. Although, I still would've opted for the OEM had those previously mentioned issues not been so hard to overcome.
And as bad as I just wanted them for the LEDs, I was really disappointed with how bad the light output was for the stock halogen setup and that was what ultimately made me do the upgrade. Once you go xenon (my previous car), it's hard to go back to halogen.
Anyways, I can't wait to get these installed! Will post pics as soon as I do.
I think I may have gotten them for a discounted price because they were the first ones they've done, but I paid around $800 and the process took just over a month to get them done and shipped.
My last truck had Halogen and this is my first one with Xenon (Adaptive to boot). Love the output especially on winding mountain roads and no moon to help. A nice bright white light.
Looks great and would appreciate more pics once you have the product in hand, especially of the fit and finish. $800 and you have to provide them with OEM halogen lights? Did you buy an extra set or took the ones off your Jeep?
No need to ship them your own lights, as they have tons of sets in stock for all kinds of cars. That was the part that finally convinced me, as I wouldn't need to be without my own lights in the meantime because it's my daily driver.
Like I said, so much more cost effective and assuring than the OEM Bi-Xenon upgrade, compared to what I've heard about other's experiences with it so far.
Headlights came in a couple of days ago, but I won't have time to install them until later next week, hopefully by Friday.
I'd take some pics of them too, but there's not much to show because they're all wrapped up in plastic and I'm not removing it until installation time.
They look good though, but definitely not perfect or nearly as nice as some OEM housings would have looked. But for that price, I'm willing to sacrifice the quality for some function and they're 10x better than I could've done if I tried myself.
As I already said, I don't have anymore pics of the headlights the way you guys will like to see them, with the lights on. They are currently wrapped in plastic and don't photograph well at all this way. I'm not unwrapping them until install so I don't have to worry about scratching them, so it'll have to wait. Sorry.
I'm not entirely pleased with the fit and finish being as clean as I'd like, but it's negligible considering the price and not being able to see the details once they're installed. Components used were listed in the first post. (FXR projectors / 35w Morimoto system). The price included everything I need to get them working, aside from the turn signal bulbs that I'll pull from my current housings.
And you'll have to contact TLF yourself to see what they'll offer you. As I already said too, this was a deal we worked out through email and it was the first set they've done. So prices and options are up in the air as far as other builds outside of mine. No idea what they'll charge for everyone else.
According to them, the LEDs will stay on all the time, regardless of turn signal on/off. That may be an option, but I wanted them to function that way.
No idea how they achieved what they did. Looks like they baked or cut the housings and pried them open and then resealed.
Looks like the alignment of the LED strip will make or break these lights. If it's off even a little bit it sticks out like a sore thumb. Fingers crossed that they will look smooth once they're on the car!
The first pic you posted (provided by the company) had the lights at an angle. I thought they looked 'familiar' but couldn't quite put my finger on it. Then I realized that once the lights are installed it will look a lot like this. Idk if they did it on purpose but that's pretty genius to borrow from inside the family.

They definitely nailed the alignment, so that isn't a concern.
Apparently they also used these Morimoto LED strips for the Ford F150, as Jeep_addicted said earlier. So you can see how similar they are in design to the Charger lights.
so curious to see how they look on truck, anyway once there installed u can upload a video with turn signals and lights doing different things etc. if they look on as good as they do sitting there im gonna get them, already starting to speak with TLF about this depending on your finished product
Currently sitting at a local auto shop that does lighting systems and installs.. Surprise surprise, the headlights aren't functioning correctly or even close to working right. The wiring harness is not at all "plug and play" like they stated it would be and this place tried everything they could. Even tried out their own harness setup and no dice. One headlight constantly flickers on all settings, only one LED halo works normally and the other only turns on with the high beams on. No high beam function itself from the bi xenons either.
I'm not even sure they sent me all the components I paid for, to be honest, based on what this guy is telling me. From what I know, which granted is very little about lighting, the Morimoto brand is supposed to be great, but he described the halos for example as "cheap Chinese made parts from eBay." Not happy to say the least but I was prepared to hear they wouldn't work. Now I just need to need to start my rant email to TLF. Not even sure what they'll say but I'm eager to hear what excuse will be pulled from their asses.
What a joke.
So this place I brought to do the install is miles ahead of TLF with what they can do and the quality as well. He is going to hold onto the modded lights from TLF and open them back up and get the harness squared away, then we are going to work together on a better way to get the LED halo the way I want. So basically, I should've come to this place from the start. He has multiple builds with custom lighting coming back from SEMA and knows his shit. Sad I didn't find him sooner...
But beware of TLF because I just did most of the heavy lifting before you guys found out the hard way yourselves.
