so youre telling me that tinting your windows is automatically making your glass shatterproof?

At what point did i say it was shatter proof. What I said was it keeps the window intact so the pieces don't go everywhere. Reread

Re: New Window Tint - What Questions To Ask

So i decided to get 35 on my front doors as I got in trouble in the past with my old car which had 20. However, i am not happy with the results. The issue is that when I look out of it everything looks a tad bit yellowish(very mildly). Looks like its fall season out. My back doors have the OEM, even though they are darker i can see everything with their true colors. Did not have this issue in my old car either(had both 5 and 20). Everything looked in their true colors. Are all of the 35 tints like this? Or did i get one with yellowish filter in it? Can anybody with 35 confirm?

The picture doesnt really do the justice but i will put it in anyways.

This may have to do with the brand of tint used. Do you know what was installed? I think some variation is going to be unavoidable. Trying driving with it for a few weeks and see if it still bugs you.

Re: New Window Tint - What Questions To Ask

I had the same thoughts, it may have something to do with the brand. I just got my front two done with 35% and first vehicle with the fronts tinted. Obviously not a match with the back but I didn't want to go too dark. The color from the outside though seems to match fairly well with the rear stock tint, just a little lighter. Things seem to look like their true colors to me?

Re: New Window Tint - What Questions To Ask

My tint guy used Solar Guard and we went with 22% as it was the closest match to the rears. I've had Llumar on previous vehicles and like both films. There isn't a film I've had that I didn't like honestly. As long as you use a well regarded tint company I don't think you'll have any problems.

Re: New Window Tint - What Questions To Ask

I haven't had a vehicle tinted aftermarket so this is my first experience. I researched this and found it to be a reasonably reputable brand and film type.

Marathon - AUTOMOTIVE | Johnson Window Films

From what I gather, as long as you avoid the cheap stuff that will transpose dye to your windows and as long as you don't get a metallic film that has been known to interfere with electronics, there are a number of brands with good offerings. Many smaller tinters seem to prefer a specific brand while some of the larger shops have a variety to choose from.

The color is a pretty good match to factory, which I like. The guy is close, comes with a lifetime warranty and he does good work.

Again, not an expert, so I'd be happy to be enlightened if I've misrepresented the validity of my findings.

Re: New Window Tint - What Questions To Ask

One thing is checking if there are any laws in your state about window tint. If you exceed the max allowable tint you could have trouble with the law and inspections if your state does them.
