Newbie with Headlight ?

Hey Everyone,

Have a headlight conversion question..Been searching but seems like a lot of threads with conflicting answers. Anyways I picked up a 15 Altitude since my X5 lease was up and now I'm back to old school halogen headlight setup. Cost aside as I know any headlight is expensive, Is their a wiring harness conversion available for sale ? Will modules play nice with the new headlights? Ideally would like a set of High Altitude/SRT8 headlights if that matters ? Also do Gran Cherokee offer LED fogs ?

Forum member Jeep Addicted builds a conversion harness. This will set you back about $2.3K (SRT8) including the harness which is not cheap. Another option is a blacked out halogen headlight sold on Ebay (Eagle Eyes) and use an HID harness. DDM makes a plug and play version, Diode Dynamics makes a canbus flicker fix that works with any HID kit, and Xenon Depot sells a version that might or might not work. Mine stopped working around 4 months after installed, both sides turned off. I have a feeling it was due to a software upgrade when the dealership replaced a PCM module that froze one of the front blinkers when installing the mentioned harness with SRT8 lights (I missed a ground connection).

So if you go that way, make sure you don't miss a connection, but it's worth it if you can afford it.

Here is my setup with a Morimoto Elite HID kit using the Diode Dynamics canbus fix on the low beams and the DDM kit on the fogs.

@Dabitz

Do you have the standard LED daytime running light strip, with your headlight setup.. I work at a dealership that has a Jeep dealership under its corporation so Im getting headlights at a decent-ish price. Far as wiring harness, does that eliminate flickering ?

No, unfortunately those work with the parking lights, not as a true DRL. PM Jeep Addicted, just make sure you don't miss a connection and you'll be fine.
