You're the one that has to look at it daily, so screw what others think.
You coat it with Plasti-Dip, available in black and white to test. It is harmless, easy to apply and easy to remove when you want.

Why didn't you just buy the black version?

Dip it, I dipped mine - no problems with durability.

I know it's used all the time, and subject to operator error, but I've seen so much flaky old plasti dip on cars out there that I'd never use it on my own car. These GC's deserve better.

If you can afford powder coating, I'd do it in black.

Re: Nudge Bar on Overland .. To Paint or Not?

Nudge/bull bars look 'mean', but what happens when someone actually backs into one of these units?

From what I can see they only have a small 2 bolt mount point per side (I'm assuming where the tow hooks normally mount).

My brother had a push bar like this on his full size truck years ago and it pretty much created more damage than normally would have happened when it was hit as it bent back and broke the grill rather than just damaging the bumper (if there was no push bar).

Re: Nudge Bar on Overland .. To Paint or Not?

You could be quite correct in what you say ...... but I plan my life around success .... not failure.

So the current benefit of a place for my lights and antenna ... and looks really outweighs the unknown probability of future panel damage

Just my way of looking at decision making

Regards

Rob

^I also look on getting one in the near future for not only providing protection from minor-collisions, but to also mount some auxiliary lighting.

Re: Nudge Bar on Overland .. To Paint or Not?

Solution is simple... buy 1 can of black dip for $5. Spray it and drive with it for a few weeks. If you still like it by then you can take it off and powder coat it. I definitely wouldn't do white, though there is white plastidip out there as well!

Plasti dip is great at protecting wheels and accents of a vehicle during winter. Issues arise when people fail to prep and skip on coats. Everything I've ever dipped looked great after a year, except wheels due to heavy brake dust.
