OEM bi-xenon retrofit on two laredo!!!!! video included

I finally got everything I needed to install my OEM bixenon headlights on both the silver 2011 Laredo E and the Deep Cherry 2012 Laredo X.

If you have been following some of my prior posts I was building two pair of interface harnesses for the retrofit.

The aim of the install was to retain all the basic functions of the headlight being Low beam, hight beam and flash to pass. The second part was to use factory connectors and not have to hack up the wiring harness or modify the headlights.

For the silver car I used DOT spec headlights

For the Deep Cherry car I used modified E-Code headlights. ( E-codes don't have side markers so I modified the housings and used strip LEDs)

The most difficult part was designing and building the harness.

Installing the headlights was a breeze, if you have removed the bumper cover and grille before then you can have the swap done in about 45 minutes.

Look here for what is needed to build the harnesses http://www.jeepgarage.org/f176/halogen-to-oem-bi-xenon-retrofit-harnesses-to-retain-flash-to-pass-49847.html

Here you can see the swap beginning.

Here you can see the harness connected to the low and high beam plugs.

The finished product!!!!

Low beam on...

Just park lighs on.

Here are my LED running lights, the camera makes them look like they are really bright but they are not as bright as DRLs

Here is a crappy night shots I took.

Looks like a job well done! What temperature did you decide on for your bulbs? I would assume 4300k, but the pictures are hard to tell.

Re: OEM bi-xenon retrofit on two laredo!!!!! video included

I kept the bulbs stock for now but believe me the lighting is way better than the halogen so no need to upgrade the bulbs just yet.

when I do I won't be going higher than 5K - 6K anything higher is useless and the bluer the light the more it lessens your visibility especially when it's raining at night you just get alot of glare of the road.

I changed the video to public sorry this is the first time I uploaded a video to youtube.

Great job.
How do you like the E-Codes compared to the factory housings?

Apart from the extra adjustment the difference isn't much that I can tell.

Awesome swap. Do you have idiot proof instructions for the mod lol. I have a 13 altitude and would love to do the swap with srt8 headlights to keep the inside of the headlights black. Any ideas will be greatly helpful, any ideas for projector fogs? Looks like the 14 wk2 come with them. Do you have to use the DRL when you do the swap. Not a fan.

Re: OEM bi-xenon retrofit on two laredo!!!!! video included

I am going to do a limited run of Five sets.

The first one is spoken for; so the other four are up for grabs!

when they are built I will post a classified.

Depending on how popular they are I will entertain another set of 5.

To keep the blacked out headlights you will have to order the SRT model Bi-xenons or bake them open and black them out.

DRL:

I did not add DRL's to any of the cars

you can order the mopar wiring repair kit for the DRL @ $30 bucks per side or you can get the plug here : 9008 H13 New Halogen Headlamp Repair Pigtail Socket | eBay

I might go back and add the DRL's but only if I can make them work like OEM meaning coming on only when in gear and cancel with the turn signal.

Since I used the E-code headlights on the Deep cherry I used that as my theme and did the Export style white running lights. instead of the amber park lights. (to acheive this I used the mopar wiring repair kit for the DRL and tapped the sidemarker circuit)

Re: OEM bi-xenon retrofit on two laredo!!!!! video included

I pasted the missing parts from jeep addicted's other threads to make a thread that includes all of the missing parts so everyone will be able to source all of the parts needed.

Based on the pioneering efforts of Scott who did most of the legwork of identifying what would be needed to install OEM bi-xenon headlight housing in the WD/WK2 platform

You can see his post here: **HOW-TO** add oem HID's to your Durango WD or Grand Cherokee WK2

Thanks to BClemmons for confirming my suspicions that a diode installed onto a jumper wire from the high beam would enable flash to pass.

His confirmation is listed at the end of this thread: adding OEM HID's to 2011+ Grand Cherokee/Durango

I myself was lucky enough to find the missing piece of the puzzle the 12 pin connector that enabled us to power the passenger side headlight without any major modification.

you can see my post here: 12 Pin plug to make OEM bi Xenon Retrofit more PLUG & Play

I beleive if you go to the dealership and have the DRL's turned on everything will work properly. I have not done this yet so I cannot confirm it, but it should work. If you already have the DRL's they will still work after the mod.
