Opt 7 Fogs

Ok. Just tried and install the opt7 fogs in my 2015 Altitude. The install and getting to the fogs is a piece of cake. First plugged in capacitors, nothing worked. Then added the flux. One side worked the other nothing. Both bulbs did work in one of my combo installs. At the very end nothing worked at all. I toggled the fogs on and off and everything. I tried every combo on each side and ultimately only one side worked then my last try nothing worked at all. So back they go!

First, put one of your old fog lights back and establish that they work, i.e. you did not burn a fuse. They you're gonna have to pretend you are at the eye doctor. Do you see better with 1 or 2 ? A or B ?

Label your cables 1 and 2 and your flux capacitors A and B.
With an OEM fog light working, assemble the LED connectors in series, as instructed. Then change just one component at a time, going through all the combinations. Once you hit a working combo, change nothing but the bulb, to rule that out. Then continue to diagnose the culprit.

Good luck. I'd give you a hand but New York is a tad far.

Yes, I did that. I did establish that both bulbs work, original fogs are in and working. At the very end both did not work. I'd rather send them back and hopefully they will test what is wrong. Or I go with another company.

Ive done the hid dance many times. everyone says there s*** works. forget opt7. go with the ddm tuning. get the ddm plus canbus hid kit. do yourself a favor and go with the 3500k (yellow) the things go through the fog and snow like no other and looks great (imo).

this kit is a NO FAIL! unlike xenondepot and opt7!

I have a 2014 Grand cherokee and installed the OPT7's with no need for the capacitors ...I bought the opt 7's for my 2015 durango and when i installed them I had some problems getting them to both light up
with no capacitors they would both light up but when I put it in gear one would go out...so I put the capacitors on ...after that...when put into gear the other light would go out ...

so I settled on having a capacitor on one side but not the other...and now they both work fine...been running this way for 2-3 months at this point..maybe you should try putting one cap on?

I have the DDM kit on the fogs and the light output is less than the Philips Ultinon LEDs I had before, not even close. At least they match the color of the Morimoto's headlights. I can't recommend them. I will try to switch the bulbs to the original XD kit I have laying around to see if that is the issue. I might try to raise the alignment a bit to see if that helps. Too cold to do anything right now so it'll have to wait. Oh and the bulbs are properly seated in place, before someone "suggests" that.

I'm not having any issues with my 6500k DDM output. Although you would think the 5500k should be brighter. Are the bulbs in with the wire downward?

Ddms are not useless they are awesome! Probably installed the bulbs upside down. Anyone who thinks aftermarket LEDs are brighter than HID's doesn't know what they are talking about.

I have DDMs (4100 K, 55 Watt) in my Subaru (projector housing) and these OPT 7 LEDs are just as bright, if not brighter. Despite the skewed comparison of fog light brightness to headlight low beam brightness. You also don't get the filament wire shadow with the OPT 7.

But hey, at least on one count I know what you are talking about: DDM HIDs are awesome. But they are not the only game in town.

How can you compare two different cars with two different types of housings (even if they both are protector that doesn't mean they are the same).

And actually, DDM's HIDs are the only true plug and play kit available right now for 2015+

It is not 100% proven that HID's (even 35w kits) produce more lumens than any aftermarket LED kit available?

Crude comparison as it is, I aimed them both from the same distance against the same wall ? Now, my HIDs are from 2012 (but not much used, don't drive that much) and I have VEIL on my headlights which cuts the output. However...

Randomly chosen:

DDM Tuning: HID and LED Lighting
Output: Output up to 3400 Lumens when used on a 35W ballast and 5000 Lumens on a 55W ballast you're sure to be seen.

OPT7 Fluxbeam LED Headlight - Opt-7

Crisp, Clear White Lighting 6000K @ 3,500 Lms of clear white lighting with that touch of xenon blue per bulb

Looks like this:
1) If DDM lumens are total output, then OPT 7 wins
2) If DDM lumesn are per bulb, then OPT 7 matches the 35Watt HIDs

I need to ask again. Anyone have any trouble with the company Opt7? I ordered from their website and they didn't work for me. I emailed them several times and called them and no answer either way. I called Chase to open a dispute. They were fast to take my money and send the product but nothing the other way.

You know, when they say it would take a certain number of hours, or days to get back to you, they mean it. You are not their only customer and they have excellent ratings on Amazon. We are not the only two unlucky folks out there. But it seems you no longer are interested in really diagnosing the issue to point out the defect.

And how did you call them? In December they did not have a listed phone number.

I had no problems with them, they fulfilled the warranty without questions.
