Re: Option to make side mirror body colored

I just had hubs talk to the body shop at the dealer and tell them what we needed. As soon as they had someone wanting to change from black to chrome, which didn't take long, they called us up and gave us a nice new set of black caps.

We always play nice with the local shops. Hubs helps them and they help us.

It's really hard to find a shop in my area that can really do jobs for me. It is almost begging. Just this morning, I got a call from a local body shop I have my car repair over a year ago. They told me they made a mistake on the bill I had and they wanted me to paid for remainder amount that the insurance company wasn't willing to paid. Seriously, you only find this out over a year later...... "-_-

Well, it's not unprecedented.

Depending upon when you did business with them, it may have been right after their annual financial review. While they would have gone over the books for quarterly taxes and such, a full audit of the finances might be the only way they caught it.

Having said that, if you signed the billing invoice that showed the amount you actually paid, they can't actually come after you for the rest. The sum on the invoice was the agreed payment you were responsible for.

That's between them and the insurance company. If they didn't get an OK from the insurance company first, that's on them. If the insurance company reneged later, that's what lawyers are for.

They're coming to you because they figure it's easier.

The repair was done March 2014. They miscalculated the amount both parties paid since the insurance company only paid half of it. The person keep telling lies to me that he tried to contact me many times before and yesterday was the first time he contacted me. I was never given a bill during those period. He gave excuse that he rarely done a 50:50 split before, and I was told that was the problem. I hated people when they never take their job seriously and constantly make mistakes, which happen often to me and pay a big price out of it.

Re: Option to make side mirror body colored

I plastikoted my chrome ones black. It won't be a perfect match to your body color but they just look like the all black plastic ones. It was better than chrome. Took me a couple hours and still looks great even though they have been that way since November. Winter in Nebraska take toll on everything. But I am anal about my vehicle. It gets washed once a week even if it is running through a touchless automatic. I will post up pix if you are interested in seeing them.

Re: Option to make side mirror body colored

Like snipe said just order the factory mirrors for a laredo. Thats what I did recieved them yesterday and changed them out today. The Billet silver painted ones look 100 times better than the chrome ones. Yes the price is a little steep but it is well worth it.

Re: Option to make side mirror body colored

I ordered a spare set of chrome covers and painted them myself.

Ordered primer and the factory color on line (billet silver for me) all in easy spray cans.
Sanded, primed, and painted the caps. Cost 120 + an hour labor.
And I have a spare set of caps.
