Re: Osram CBI D1S HID Bulbs!

Need a favor from anyone following this. Could you post a pic of your beam pattern of your headlights against a wall, say from 20 - 30 feet away? Im noticing a brighter hotspot on the passenger side headlight. I recall seeing this a bit with the oem bulbs in and im wondering if the increased Kelvin and brightness is just making it more noticeable. Ive hear our Valeo projectors are prone to burnt bowls n such. I figure it would be good to see some images of oem beam pattern before I start pulling the bulbs out etc...

Re: Osram CBI D1S HID Bulbs!

Got a replacement for the drivers side bulb as it seemed just be a defective bulb. The beam patterns and hotspots now look the same. The only difference now is that the bulb that has about 10 hrs on it is noticeably brighter and whiter than the new bulb.

I'm still loving these bulbs. The amount of light they put on the ground is incredible! My headlights easily drown out the headlights of any cars I drive next to or overtake. The cutoff still sucks and there really isn't any way to fix that without a retrofit of new projectors and lenses...But I am now etremely happy with the amount of usable white light. Not to mention they match my 5000k LED fogs perfectly and look amazing.

Re: Osram CBI D1S HID Bulbs!

Are these two links the same Osram D1S Bulb referenced in this thread in different packaging??

Amazon.com: Sylvania D1S SilverStar High Intensity Discharge (HID) Bulb, (Pack of 1): Automotive This bulb claims to have a color temp. of 5000K and a manufacturer part # of HIDD1S and appears to be the same packaging as the picture linked to by DirtyDuc83 in post #2 of this thread.

OSRAM - Cool Blue Intense Xenarc D1S (Single) : Amazon.com : Automotive This bulb claims to have a color temp. of 5500K and a manufacturer part # of 66144CBI which is what I think the OP was posting about to begin with.

They are the same bulbs. Silverstar packaging is for the US. CBI is the name overseas.

Re: Osram CBI D1S HID Bulbs!

11 months on these bulbs and still loving them.

For all of you contemplating buying them and trying to mull over the specs.

There is definitely a difference the light is whiter and they are also brighter.

You will not be disappointed if you have never experienced this type of out put before.

Its hard for me to drive any vehicle with halogen headlights now. I feels like I am driving with only the park lights.

sidenote:

I will also say this the J W speaker fog lights are pretty damn close to the output of these bulbs to.

The JW speaker 6145 LED foglights are better than alot of headlights out there. If anyone with a 2011-2013 WK2 wants to upgrade there lighting if they don't want to spring for the bixenon headlight swap the JW swap is a must do!!!!!

X2! Agreed on all three points.

These D1S bulb are a good color temp match to the excellent JW speaker 6145 LED fogs, clean bright white light.
