Outside rear view mirrors

I know there is a topic about the light under the outside rear view mirrors but can't find it. Help please. I don't have the lights but there is a place to put one and I want to know how hard it would be. I'm wondering if it's pre wired? 2012 Overland

Re: Outside rear view mirrors

Not directly related to your question, but close enough that it may help you out at bit (or not).

I have a 2014 Overland and my passenger side mirror under lamp (puddle lamp, what's the technical name for it?) has gone out. Took it to the dealer and they could not find a part individually to replace it. They had to order an entire new mirror, which is on backorder.

Leads me to believe that if it's pre wired, you may have a hard time finding just the bulb to fit in there. It could be pre wired up to the mirror, and then depending on the mirror type, the wiring ties in?

I am the one who made the thread about a week ago on here.

Any chance you can ask the dealer if you can keep the old mirror? I'd like to look at the wiring setup if possible.

Yeah, I can definitely ask them. Not sure how long it will be since it was on back order, but I'll post on here again when I know more.

Re: Outside rear view mirrors

Update:

Just dropped the vehicle off this morning for the mirror replacement (and the transmission TSB while it's there). Dealer said it wouldn't be a problem to let me keep the old one. He noted it down on the service ticket, so by the end of the day, I should have an Overland passenger mirror.
