Paint Radiator Grill Like SRT on Overland

Hi all,

I was searching through some user pictures and saw some paint mods like the roof, which I might do some day, but I'm wondering if anyone has a Overland with the black painted grill like the SRT?

My Overland is white with the bi-xenon lights and I like the look of the white SRT with the whole front of radiator grill black (leaving the chrome in place). The SRT has a different bumper though, and different stance, etc so I'm wondering if it will still look good with the overland bumper and it's extra chrome, etc?

If anyone has pictures, I'd love to see how it looks before I commit to getting it painted.

This is what I'm thinking of - http://i612.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps1f7151d2.jpg

Re: Paint Radiator Grill Like SRT on Overland

Wouldn't look right IMO. There is just too much chrome on the Overland to be able to swing a black grill like the SRT. Plus the SRT has black headlights which also make the black grill work. So unless you bought SRT or High Altitude headlights it would just look very out of place.
I say leave it as is unless you're gonna go all out and dechrome everything and swap headlights as well.

I agree, your have to black out the rest of the chrome for it to look right.

What he said. There are members here who have blacked out the grill (paint or wraps) but they all have everything else blacked out (either altitude or mods). If everything else is blacked out, I don't think it looks too bad at all.

Gotta agree with jonnyblaze, wouldn't look right, was thinking of doing the same on my newly ordered GK,but figured it looked cool as it is,not that I will ever get to drive it,( wife put first dibs on it),again Overland is pretty cool looking as it is.

Re: Paint Radiator Grill Like SRT on Overland

Thanks for the input guys. I was thinking there was enough black on the front to make it look okay, but it seems to be a pretty unanimous no.

If I left the chrome but powder coated the wheels black with the black grill, would it be enough? Or still no go?

I guess part of thing is that I still don't know how i feel about the white. I like it, but I feel I need to do something like black wheels or grill to make it a little less girly (the interior is the brown/tan). I couldn't find a black one with that interior.

Dude do what you want...unless your trying to impress these guys...take a few pics of your ride and have a photoshop guru do what your thinking to them.havent seen any on this forum though...a lot of time you might want to listen to the "expert" opinions and go the total opposite of that....make it unique, make it yours, just my opinion, that's all..

Re: Paint Radiator Grill Like SRT on Overland

Here is the thing, being into cars and on many different forums for a long time, I find that people sometimes just do something to do something, even if it means degrading the look of the vehicle. The thing is your Overland is a very nice looking car as is so sometimes doing a mod because you are bored or feel that you just have to do it isn't always the best thing.
My honest opinion, if you plastidip your wheels and grill it would for sure downgrade the look of your Jeep. I wanted the high altitude and SRT look on my summit, but I started to realize there was literally too much to change. It would have required a LOT of money and time, and it was actually just easier to buy a High Altitude lol. I'm not saying to do the same, but my point is, unless you want to spend a lot of money and do things right, it might just be best to leave it as is and enjoy.
Go ahead and some of the other things you mentioned...LED interior lights, tint match front windows, maybe paint the calipers, there are nice exterior lighting upgrades available as well (see some of my threads). Plenty of stuff to keep you busy.
As mentioned, you do what you want, but this is all just my personal opinion and how I feel. Hope this helps.
