Re: Painted the Chrome grille and taillight piece

Looks good - but I would have to agree a black grill would look fire on this Jeep!

Body color match on the rear brow looks great...this is how Jeep should have done it in the first place. Painted grill looks great as well.

Re: Painted the Chrome grille and taillight piece

To the OP, are you still happy with painting the grille? How is it holding up? I am considering sending mine to scott as well, but I'm still torn on the color matching. I typically prefer color over chrome, but I think I would have to change out the mirror caps and lower bumper trim and do away with all of the front chrome for it to look best.

I did the rear brow and it looks much better, IMO.

I like it a lot better than the chrome grill and think it has a more aggressive/sport look. I've gotten a few puzzled looks by other Jeep owners and I like the fact that its different since everyone seems to be driving a GC these days.

I thought I wanted to switch out the mirror caps to painted to, and maybe i still will but decided that they arent as bad with the painted grill. When I was shopping around for prices for matching all the chrome, everyone advised against painting the lower piece, but maybe since your's is black it wouldn't be so bad

I will say I think the color tint was a little off from my Jeep's mineral gray, but I got some damage on the front side fixed and had them match the grill and its great. I haven't seen any chips, scratches or issues.

And yes, your tail looks better now that the brow is painted.

Re: Painted the Chrome grille and taillight piece

I like your mineral grey grille I think all you need to make it pop more the black Altitude headlights, I think that would make your grille pop much more. I'm going to buy the Overland grille for my Jeep or wait for the Trailhawks grille to be released and buy it, in any case i love the look of the Altitude headlights with or without chrome.

Color matched grille looks good! Any thoughts of taking the jeep logo off of the front? Color match the mirrors and door handles and take off the side trim.. It would look nice!!

Re: Painted the Chrome grille and taillight piece

That looks great. I am having Scott paint my rear brow as we speak. As others have said Jeep should have done the rear straight from the factory. I do like the color matched grill better than black. I think a black grill would look out of place. Looks good!

Hello,

The grill looks awesome color matched! Do you have any issues with paint chipping from painting over chrome? I read somewhere that it might.... Also, how much did they charge if you don't mind me asking.

There has been maybe one small chip but i filled it with touchup paint and can't tell. Can't remember how much Scott charged but it wasn't much really.

The chrome looks much better than the color match.. Looks tacky imo.. whats the point of changing that?

Are you referring to the grille or rear brow? The grille is questionable, but the rear chrome is what looks tacky and cheap, IMO. I'm still unsure about color matching the grille.

Re: Painted the Chrome grille and taillight piece

hmmmm I had the piece with the backup camera installed on my Jeep and I still have the old piece without the backup camera. Will the chrome piece from the old piece fit the new piece. guess i could experiment myself as I too am wanting the rear brow body color painted.
