Re: Partial De-Chrome

I like the look. I normally am not a fan of chrome, but I think I'm going to keep the chrome on my Overland.

What are you going to do with the grille? I think the WJ style with the chrome edging around the bars, but the rest in body color would look great on your truck.

Re: Partial De-Chrome

Quick question on the mirror swap - (I'm going from chrome to brilliant black as well). I ordered the whole mirror assembly in brilliant black but my dealer is telling me that they need to replace the entire mirrors - pull off the door panels, etc. You just replaced the caps correct? Was it easy to remove the chrome caps and install the black? Any advice you can give me on what's involved would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks! Tom

my dealer told me that as well first. go to justforjeeps.com and look at the chrome mirror caps there. i think there is a pdf on that page that shows how you pop off the old caps and put the new ones on there. you have to take a part the mirror but that is all. don't give up - it can definitely be done!

Re: Partial De-Chrome

Did you consider having the chrome caps sand-blasted, then painted? (instead of buying all new assemblies) Just wondering what the cheapest route is...

Re: Partial De-Chrome

the cheapest route is to paint, and many have. i got the back rear chrome piece painted. i was worried about the paint holding up on the chrome mirror caps so that's why i bought the laredo ones.

Re: Partial De-Chrome

they have adhesive on the back. very easy to apply. they also are all connected with a strip on top to keep them spaced and aligned. then you just peel off that strip when you're done.
