Question passenger airbag on/off

Soon a new born will join my little familiy, is there any official reference mentions that the passenger airbag automatically turns off when the sit sensor senses a weight on it ?
thanks

Re: passenger airbag on/off

The passenger side seat sensor automatically turns ON when a weight is placed on it.

You should never hold a new-born/child when sitting in the front passenger seat, due to potential airbag deployment. All children are required by law to be in a child or booster seat.

You cannot place a child or booster seat in the front passenger seat in front of an airbag. Illegal in most, if not all, states. Child and booster seats are for rear seats only. This is all described in the GC owner's manual (starting on page 83), including how to use the LATCH system in the rear seats for installing child or booster seats.

Thanks, Have read that babies may be placed in a baby seat in the passenger seat, facing in the rearward position IF the airbag is set to off.
You mean that the passenger front airbag will inflate if the sensor senses a baby on a baby seat placed there? They should have defined a minimum threshold of 15 kilos or so. Will appreciate if you could address the page in the manual.

Well some states allow a newborn to be on the mothers lap without a seatbelt or child seat if the mother is breast feeding the child.

With that being said, I think the stuff on the seat as to weigh over 70 pounds for the air bag to go off. May want to fact check the weight limit.

Re: passenger airbag on/off

I gave you a link to the owner's manual and a page number. Did you even read it???

No car seats in the front. No babies held in front. While breastfeeding - are you kidding? Maybe while the vehicle is parked.

I cannot believe you two are even arguing about this...
