Leather seats issue... I have a 14 Overland and I am concerned on the quality of the perforated seating. The durability is terrible. I have 2 spots now that when wiped down actually caused the shine to go away, like the top layer comes off. Only a few thousand miles and durability issues on the seats?? What about after 50k? Dealership took photo of seat and sent it to Jeep to determine if they will replace, not holding my breath. In any case, is anyone else not pleased with the perforated section of their seats?
Did you use any cleaners with any chemical in them. As it is the Overland this is Nappa Leather and there are some care instructions about the seats etc. Just so I can understand the situation.
Just a leather cleaner. The rest of the seat is fine, just a spot. Dealer tried to do something and now the area is turning a little yellowish. My seats are black in color. Leather is soft however does not appear to be very durable.
In the short amount of experience I have with the nappa leather, I found them to be very durable... two small children can do a lot of damage, and they held up, and cleaned up very well.
If you dealer sent info/pics in to Jeep, then hopefully they will do something for you... I think they are pretty good about responding to their dealers.

I hope they do the right thing. After more research it appears there is a urethane covering on the leather. This cover is what looks like a top layer and is what is coming off of my seat. Not sure how but possibly an error in the leather process itself. Hope I am the only one with a problem...
Lexol conditioner on my 2014 GC Overland and they are holding up very well. Over 5000 miles on them so far. I have not used a cleaner on them yet as they only need a conditioner. I use leather cleaners very sparingly as they are harsher. You should only use a leather conditioner if you truly don't need to clean them. You should also keep them conditioned to prevent excessive wrinkling and then cracking. Dry air and heat can kill leather. A cleaner usually won't help with this (which is why they make a conditioner).
Hope Jeep replaces your seat(s). Take a pic if you can and post it so we can see what they are doing.
Honestly dealers are front line, you have a decent dealer and you will have a good experience. A defect is a defect. Glad to hear you are being looked after.
More than likely they will just replace the part with the issue it is not that difficult to reskin the seat.
I have been using the LEXOL glycerin based cleaner, I am pleased with the the level of soil removal I get from it and it is not harsh on my skin either.
Their leather condition is great too but I get get the feeling that whatever they are coated with the conditioner does not penetrate the seat.
Plus the Lexol cleaner leaves behind a lubricatig film for about two days before you can't feel it to the touch.
I'm pretty new to this site but so far am impressed. Learning so much about my new summit. I do have a question about my seats. What is under the leather. It almost sounds like a plastic bag or something under the driver and passenger side front seats. Is this normal? I know its not a big thing just curious.
I use Chemical Guys products and have been using them for many years, all of their products are incredible. I use CG's inner clean which is an amazing plastic cleaner and their Leather Cleaner plus conditioner... on, well, leather of course.
Check out their youtube channel, they have a wealth of car care tutorials from novice to pro detailer. like me!
I have a 2014 Overland as well and I am having the same issue. I have 1250 miles on it and I own nothing that would cause such an abrasion. at first i thought i had got a smudge or something fell on it but after wiping it with water the top layer is cracking away from the underside just as a temporary tattoo would feel off of your skin.. my heart dropped when i saw this because it should not be happening with a 50k+ vehicle.
I am going to take it to the dealer with this information as ammo if they say they cant do anything about it.
My seats are fine. I've used light conditioner on them and wipe them down with a damp cloth. 6k on 2014 black seats and looking good. I've even gotten sunscreen all over them which left white streaks, and that cleaned right up.
I have a 2011 Overland and my seats have tore at the hole opening around the heated-cool vents. I only buy cleaner from the Jeep dealership and have never taken my car any where to be cleaned. Right after I bought it maybe 600 miles the dash leather pulled loose and they had to order a new dash. My car has 65,000 miles and the two front seats are showing damage, the dealer said they were from smoking! I have never smoked nor allow anyone to smoke in my car so that was a fight. The dealer took pictures and sent them in to see if they would fix them being I have 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty plus take very good care they only change my oil & tires. Well the answer is no to any kind of repair said it happens : (
I only weigh 115lbs so when they said weight is wearing seat that was a laughable joke to me!
If I could get more people to complain about the 2011 model jeep seats only then will they do anything : )
I still love my Jeep and the Hemi is awesome, sadly I will still buy another one when time comes because I love jeep!
