Philips Diamond Vision H11 Headlamps

Hi All -

Just picked up a new JGC Limited a few days ago and my first change was to update the halogen headlights. I thought about doing an LED upgrade using some Oracle lighting, but ultimately decided to go the cheaper/easier route and just upgrade the bulbs to Phillips Diamond Vision: Amazon.com: Philips - Diamond Vision H11 Halogen HID Super White 5000K (Pair): Automotive

I like the overall look of the bulbs...definitely much closer to the closer of HID. The brightness is still not the best (I had HIDs in my last car and it's a big difference going back to halogen). But overall, I like the color/look. Might upgrade to LEDs down the road.

BTW, what a PITA it is to change the bulbs on these headlights. I was expecting a much quicker/easier process.

Not sure if you can really tell in the pic, but I figured I'd post it so you can see what they look like.

Re: Philips Diamond Vision H11 Headlamps

Do you notice any hint of bluish color in your headlights? I have been looking at this same set for weeks but havent made up my mind yet. Thanks

Re: Philips Diamond Vision H11 Headlamps

It's a bright white that borders toward blue. It's very close to the color of an HID in my opinion. There is no hint of yellow at all.

Re: Philips Diamond Vision H11 Headlamps

Were you able to change the bulb without taking off the bumper?

Re: Philips Diamond Vision H11 Headlamps

Yes I was able to do it without removing the front bumper. It wasn't super easy (the openings are super small and you need to remove the air box on the driver's side). I used this video to help guide me through. It's the same process for either halogens or HIDs: https://youtu.be/txfW7BiMOSY

I read in another thread on here that you can turn the wheel and pull back the liner to make it easier.

Re: Philips Diamond Vision H11 Headlamps

May be of interest to others!!

Just emailed Phillips USA and asked about the authenticity of the Diamond Vision bulb and this is what they had to say:

"We do not distribute the Philips Diamond Vision 5000K Ultimate White Halogen Bulb. That does not mean the bulb is fake, it may be a European automotive bulb. We will not be able to answer questions about this specific bulb.

Best Regards,
Consumer Care Philips Aftermarket"

Did you notice anything in the wrapping that indicated bulb was from Germany (which is what Amazon posting claims)? Just curious. Thanks

Re: Philips Diamond Vision H11 Headlamps

The box does say it's designed and made in Germany. Looks authentic to me. I have read that these **may** not be DOT approved in the U.S. Not sure why (they aren't ridiculously bright or anything). I think only Crystal Vision are considered DOT approved.

Philips Diamond Vision H11 Headlamps

For anyone questioning these bulbs should check out Sylvania Silverstar Ultra's. They made a dramatic difference for me at night while driving.

Re: Philips Diamond Vision H11 Headlamps

In my opinion, the Silverstar Ultras are nice and much brighter than stock. Color wise, they are a tad whiter than stock halogen bulbs, but still have a fair bit of yellow in them. They don't have that HID look. I think the Sylvania zxe are closer in color to the Diamond Vision.

So basically, the Silverstar ultras are better for brightness and visibility, the diamond vision and zxe ones are more for color/look.

Re: Philips Diamond Vision H11 Headlamps

Curious about the ultras. Truly more lumens or just a better color and perceived brightness?
I'm looking to upgrade mine as well.
