I really appreciate the input! Are you going the splicing route then?

I might still not sure. I would just hate going that route and the resistor going bad and having to splice them a second time. I already had to go thru repairing the cut that was left by the Phillips resistors so to have to go thru that again I'm not sure.

I had to splice at least twice... I'm thinkin the cable should survive, I used some of that black cotton friction tape to protect everything, water runs behind the taillight assembly so that may help. I'd have to admit, that vehicle I won't own for longer than 5-6 years and the protected spliced cable should last way way longer...

Lol your right. I might give it a shot. All the other lights have been switched to LEDs so I'm not to happy having the outer taillight as halogens.

I'm in the same boat. I doubt they will fail while I own it. If so, I splice twice. Now I'm just trying to find all the LED lights required for my 2011. Any site recommendations?

Xenondepot has some good quality stuff. Vleds is also pretty good or if not you can try Amazon.

Re: Phillips 3157 LED Brake/Turn

So I did this install. Really easy. I bought some Putco LEDS for my rear inside taillights. I also bought some of the Philips. I'm not too happy with the look. They look almost orange compared to the crisp LED ones I installed. Bummer.

I can not confirm that. The Philips LED is red, absolutely no complaint when it comes to the colour. When I look at it its red as red can be.

Re: Phillips 3157 LED Brake/Turn

Well I bought the resistors and bulbs back on 10/06. They were installed a week later. I'm now getting a right turn signal out warning with hyper flash. I switched the bulbs from side to side and still getting the message so like others, the Philips resistors I bought from xenondepot have failed.
Currently working with them to get this figured out.

I've been running with the resistors from superbirghtleds.com for about 2 years now with no problems. Then again, I put mine in a radio shack project box (drilled holes in the metal plate and screwed the resistor to it) with long enough wires to hang down and tie wrap them to the cabling running across the rear bumper. The metal plate would help dissipate heat while the box protects it from the elements.

Re: Phillips 3157 LED Brake/Turn

I finally got sick of the bulb out warning. I bought some 50w 60ohm resistors on Amazon for $6. Installed them and no more problems. Xenon depot was good to me and wanted to resolve my issue but I didn't want to have them or me jump through hoops with Putco. That's why I went with a higher voltage.
