Not sure, this thread is about the red Philips 3157 for Brake/Turn.

Hi,

I'm not sure where you're seeing that info on our site.

According to our 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Lamp replacement guide, the correct bulb for the DRL is 3157.

I thought this was for a newer Jeep, didn't realize it was a 2011 we were talking about. For the newer Jeeps, it is an H11 bulb according to XD.

I have a 2014. I think this thread is about the rear brake/turn bulb.

Re: Phillips 3157 LED Brake/Turn

Tallguy, I was not talking about your GC. I was referring to dsmoovy's 2011 GC. dsmoovy asked about using the 3157 as a DRL, but was unable to do so because the bulb was red. Apparently for the 2011s, the correct DRL bulb was the 3157. I was trying to be helpful and suggested that dsmoovy find an H11 bulb in white, as I (mistakenly) believed that the H11 bulb was the correct bulb for DRLs. It is now, for newer GCs, but for a 2011, the correct bulb is a 3157. I missed the part about dsmoovy's GC being a 2011. And I apologize the the confusion.

Yes, the Headlight bulb is used as a DRL bulb during the day.

Re: Phillips 3157 LED Brake/Turn

Couple weeks now and happy with the Philips 3157 LED on my 2014 (rear Brake/Turn)
It's a great replacement and not that expensive.

Yes, excellent, not too bright, I like them a lot so far, also easy installation once you figure out that space behind the bumper cover and sticking the resistors on the flat body surface just behind the cover with double sided tape...

Steve

Can these bulbs be used as brake lights in a 2011 JGC without resistors?

I've never run an LED in my DRL and mine is fooked, so i don't think it matters wether you use an LED or not. I think there just poor quality.

On a side note, do you know if Phillips is going to be coming out with other colours for there 3157? I'm looking at Amber and White really.

Cheers!

Re: Phillips 3157 LED Brake/Turn

@Dannyboy83 - Im sure it will happen, but I do not have anything showing that they will be releasing anything in North America anytime soon.

@dsmoovy - Take a look at our 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Lamp Replacement guide. You will only need to use load resistors if the bulb acts as a turn-signal bulb.
