One Philips 3157 bulb died after not even 2 weeks, you replaced that bulb and all good for ~5 weeks now.

Today out of the blue (turn signal not activated) I got a right turn signal bulb out warning on display a couple times, disappeared again and not stored as error message. This would indicate vehicle either not "accepting" resistor when checking resistance due to load to low or a resistor / wire connection issue. Turn signal switching frequency doubled. That also means that there was no visible turn signal at that time.

I've checked wires and connections, all good.
I'm assuming that something changed in the resistor that would trigger the vehicle bulb error.

To me that's going through major pain, a regular bulb at least works.
If the error shows again I'll contact you.

To confirm is the bulb working now? Keep us posted if anything changes.

Bulb is working correct BUT there is a constant bulb out warning (rear right bulb) plus the signal frequency (clicking in cockpit and mirror turn signal bulb) is twice the frequency.
Annoying because you get the error message tone plus the double switching frequency of the small bulb in the mirror.
I can only assume it's the ballast (resistor) incompatibility with the Grand Cherokee bulb out warning circuit. The other side works fine.
Everything worked 100% OK for weeks.
For me this is it too much trouble, I'll remove everything and will go back to regular bulbs.

Re: Phillips 3157 LED Brake/Turn

It sounds like it is the resistor, or wiring related, as the resistor is designed to mimic a standard incandescent bulb --not just Grand Cherokee bulbs...

It was the Philips resistor. I moved the one from the left side to the right, all good.
I'm assuming it was a slight change in the internal resistance causing the bulb out warning and twice the blinking speed on the relay...
I'm disappointed in the Philips stuff at least from a Jeep Grand Cherokee owner perspective. One defective bulb and one resistor not working within 2 months.
I've removed everything and would not consider using any type of aftermarket bulbs in the future. LED brake/turn light should have been factory standard.

Re: Phillips 3157 LED Brake/Turn

@tallguy - I'm not sure if a potentially bad bulb caused a resistors to go out (or vice versa). We've literally had a handful of bad bulbs in the thousands that we've sold....

Please send me a PM with your order number so that I can send you a resistor. It's up to you whether you put it in of course.

Hi Steve:
I've been in contact with John and I'll give it one more try. Let's hope for the best...I've checked the bad resistor with Ohm meter, it failed in open state (no current at all flowing through it just like a broken wire, the other resistor is OK).
Thanks for quick response, I do appreciate that!
I hope the Philips LED+resistor will work OK, I do like the simple install and the light output (as long as that stuff is actually working).

As an FYI, I installed LED bulbs (3157-x45-T) and resistors (RL-650) from Superbrightleds.com and they have been working perfectly for 18 months now. So, the LED and load resistor taillight solution can be reliable.

Something to think about if the Phillips products don't work out for you...

@tallguy - Yes, I followed up with him and he mentioned that replacements are en route.

Re: Phillips 3157 LED Brake/Turn

I just installed the Phillips set up with resistors. Ordered it from Walmart got it just a bit cheaper sorry xenondepot. Seems to work great. I will post up some pics when I get a chance.

Re: Phillips 3157 LED Brake/Turn

I'm happy now with the 2nd set of resistors (only needed to replace one) and one replacement bulb. All good now for a week or so, keeping fingers crossed.
I'd recommend buying from XenonDepot instead of Wally world. XenonDepot actually cares.
