No I do not have a link but I think they are the AVS visors. I got them as a gift in 2011.

Did you scuff it with a brillo, sandpaper, or do any prep before applying the plastidip?
No way. The whole point of plastidip is you can keep the chrome under it in case you want to peel it off and get the chrome back.

I cleaned it with Windex before I put it on.

A few suggestions:
1. Lay the first coat on thick. It should look wet, but not running.
2. Do it indoors, or away from a breeze! I kept having to remove grass and dirt from mine.
3. Shake the can vigorously and always spray like a piece of cardboard for a few seconds before spraying your part. This stuff dries fast and tends to clog the nozzle frequently.
I put the first 3 coats on very very thin. You could still see some chrome until the 4th went on then I put the last two on thick. There was a thread where someone's looked very rough and bubbly and it was due to putting it on too thick the first coats. It seemed that most put it on very thin until it gets a base. I guess YMMV.

Re: Plasitdip'd grill.

If you watch the video, they lay the first coat on pretty thick. I did mine side by side with my buddy and he laid his on thick, I started thin like you did. We both ended up with the same finished product, except mine took longer.

Re: Plasitdip'd grill.

Before joining this forum, I had never heard of plasti dip, but I've seen it mentioned several times in some threads I've read. Someone even suggested it to me specifically in one of them. From my understanding, it's a kind of rubberized paint from a spray can that can be peeled off when you don't want it anymore. It seems really cool and lots of people here seem to really like it, but if you can just peel it off, what keeps it on? Is it at all common for it to peel off on its own?

I don't know what keeps it on, but it stays on. We just ran the car through the car wash after a week of curing and not a scratch in the grille or rear brow.

Re: Plasitdip'd grill.

Came out sweet. Love me some plasti-dip. What tires are you running on the MT's?

JFD328 has a spectacular aura about
Garage
Has anyone plastidip'd chrome handles and mirror caps. If so any helpful advice.... I just plastidip'd my front emblem, rear brow and chrome side molding. I also vinyl wrapped the chrome window molding myself and plan on doing the chrome trim on the rear bumper.
