Plasitdip'd grill.

I think it turned out okay. I thought I would try this before getting professionally painted. The painter said that it would probably chip if he did it anyway.

I removed the grill and did about 6 coats using an entire can. The first three layers were very thin and you could still see chrome until the 3rd was done. Then I laid the last three on thick.

Oh yea you're gonna like it a lot. I did 5 coats. The more you do the easier it would be to take off if you ever decide you want to. 5 was perfect when we did mine, but I'm never taking it off lol

Re: Plasitdip'd grill.

How does it hold up to rocks and road debris? That's my only concern right now.

It almost acts like a protectant to the grill bc its more like a rubber/plastic than paint. I have none and I've had it plasti-dipped for over a month now with a lot of driving for work. It's great. And should any blemishes occur, which would be rare, you could touch it up or peel it off and re-dip.

So far fine. I even travel to work on a road that is being paved. It is all chopped up and dusty. I can hear rocks hitting the front end. It feels very durable. I'll tell you right now it's stronger than paint.

Re: Plasitdip'd grill.

Thinking about doing this also. Did you use any glossifier or is it just the matte black finish.

Just matte. I was thinking of doing the glossifier but it really looks good like this so I think I'm going to keep it. My wheels are more flat anyway so it matches those perfect.
