I didn't remove the handles just taped them and used an exacto-knife to cut out the excess.

Any more advice I can give y'all is that is not a perfect process and won't be anything like getting these parts actually painted. It will peel after awhile and do not use high pressure washer on it for it will start to come off. Best bet is to get a body/paint shop to do the job right. But if your looking for something that is easy and cheap, this is your best option.
