Plastic under Headlight with LED DRL

I posted this in the interior/exterior sub but hoping it gets a bit more attention out here:

This is a tough one to word so bear with me.

Does anyone sell or would know how to fabricate a plastic piece for under the headlights with LED DRL?

Reference the photo below. The black plastic under the headlight where the headlight washers are located. Does anyone know where to purchase a color match aftermarket piece of plastic to adhere to that portion?

I hope what Im saying makes sense.

Re: Plastic under Headlight with LED DRL

Doing a search, I did stumble upon this

exterior Accessories for 2014 Grand Cherokee front headlights lamp Spray cleaning system Cover sticker frame shield trim-in Chromium Styling from Automobiles & Motorcycles on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group

Im not a fan of adding additional chrome but its good to know the part exists. Maybe its worth buying and just getting it resprayed to factory colors (if possible).

Re: Plastic under Headlight with LED DRL

For those interested:

I just called up a local jeep dealership. They said that they would be able to paint the small plastic pieces and match the color using the vehicles VIN. She quoted me $40-$60 sight unseen. So figure it should cost less than $100.

If youre looking to get rid of the black bit under the headlight and want it to atleast body match the vehicle, it sounds like it can be done for under $100

Re: Plastic under Headlight with LED DRL

What model is that?

My Limited doesn't have that piece. On mine, the lens goes straight across on the bottom with no cutout. Plus, the inner trim closest to the grill is color keyed on mine, with only a thing chrome band around the whole light assembly (in other words, no chrome "boomerang" around the lower and center portion).

I actually prefer the way they did it on mine. It's a lot cleaner. I think they tried to get too fancy with the design you ended up with, as well as that second sample you posted which has way too much decoration.

Re: Plastic under Headlight with LED DRL

This is specifically for the headlights with the LED DRL. These headlights are stock on Overland and Summit but are an option with the LUXII package on limiteds.

I agree that your headlights fill in the space more nicely. But im a sucker for the LED's on the front of this jeep.

Re: Plastic under Headlight with LED DRL

So, if I understand this correctly... you're going to buy some chrome pieces molded in the same style as the OEM pieces then have them color matched to your Jeep?

Why not save the money and just paint the existing OEM pieces if you want them color matched?

I'd rather see a smooth, black, one piece cover for that entire area. Could leave it black or color match it to the vehicle. That fake honeycomb molding is what makes this area look really stupid and it's a PITA to clean bugs out of it.

Re: Plastic under Headlight with LED DRL

That honey comb insert matches the lower inserts on the front end of the Summit perfectly. I think they did a great job with the higher end LED headlights. I personally think body color matching those pieces would look tacky, but that's just me.

Makes perfect sense to me. This way you aren't permanently painting any part of the vehicle. This is important especially if you do it only to find out if you don't like it. The other benefit of buying the chrome accessory pieces and painting those is that no part of the vehicle will have to be taken apart to have them painted. Those parts will have to be removed to be painted, and doing that requires removal of the entire front bumper to remove the headlights.

Yes, it does... and it still looks stupid.

I understand that. That's why I thought a smooth one piece cover would look and fit better. At least you'd be eliminating the fake washer cover in the middle.

The OEM's could be painted in place. No need to disassemble anything.

Re: Plastic under Headlight with LED DRL

Are the headlight washers only available on the summit or do they come on the overland as well?
