Re: Plastidipped chrome bezels

I didn't use glossifier...actually wanted it matte so it would look stock. Most cars that have black window trim are usually matte anyway

Re: Plastidipped chrome bezels

Thanks for the info. Was it hard to tape off everything around the windows? I'm just concerned it wont stick with all the cracks and what not

Re: Plastidipped chrome bezels

Was a little tricky cause I picked a windy day so I had some overspray...other than that, just tape about 1/2 inch around and use at least 4-5 coats(10-15min between each coat) after 5th coat wait 20min...I find a little easier to peel off the plastidip if it's heavy and dried.

Re: Plastidipped chrome bezels

Yeah Ive been watching a lot of videos on youtube on how to do it. I'm definitely going to black out the emblems and trim. I'm getting the altitude grill and liftgate piece. I'm just not sure about the wheels because my drive way is on a hill and it'll be tough to take the wheels off unless I buy a jack and jack stands. Oh decisions!

You definitely don't NEED to take the wheels off. I just used a plastic drop cloth behind the wheel and between the rotor/caliper. After your first 3-4 even coats, move the car forward half a wheel rotation and repeat. I did a full chrome delete with dip and I think the wheels were honestly the easiest part. The amount of prep work required for the window trim was a huge PITA but definitely worth it. You can use index cards where the rim meets the tire if you want, but my tires were freshly cleaned so it wasn't an issue. The dip peeled right off the rubber like it was a metal panel. Good luck, you'll love the look!

Fly Navy-thanks for the explanation. I'll have to post pics after I'm done.

Re: Plastidipped chrome bezels

Those look great...nice job, also if u want, plastidip makes a glossifier...it won't give them a super shine but just make them a little less matte.
