I have one of these and I'm very happy with it:

Re: Platform style hitch bike rack

Hey aboyce85, my only complaint about the saris rack is that it doesn't fold up against the rear hatch. I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving it on without bikes attached for long periods of time, unless I put some sort of marker, making it more visible to people behind me. Two bikes fit without problems, there didn't seem to be any rubbing or bumping, however, I usually travel with only one. For me, the built in features and quality, along with a reasonable price made it worth it. All depends on what your looking for!

Re: Platform style hitch bike rack

Next time I put it on I'll try to snap some pics of it from the side with and without bikes on so u can see how far it sticks out, and how high it is from the back

Re: Platform style hitch bike rack

I don't have the platform version, but I have had the two and three bike version of Kuat's traditional hitch racks. While expensive, they are really nice. I think it is safe to assume their platform unit will be very well made, fairly light, and expensive.

As I said here: Platform style hitch bike rack
In 45 years of racking my bikes, the Kuat platform rack is by far the best rack I've ever owned. You get what you pay for.

Re: Platform style hitch bike rack

Thank you all for your input, I think I'm going to go with either the Kuat Sherpa or NV. I'm hoping a local bike shop near me carries them so I can compare in person.

Re: Platform style hitch bike rack

Personally, I say go for the 1UP. Yes you are gonna pay for it but the quality cannot be beat and it will last forever. Best mountain biking related purchase I've ever made by far.

Looks good! Do you typically leave the rack on and is there any visibility on the backup camera when bikes are not loaded? It looks like it would completely block the view but I can't really tell. I'm leaning towards this rack so I appreciate your post!

I checked out the 1up rack but don't want to pay an additional $80 just to have black over silver.

Re: Platform style hitch bike rack

I leave it on most the time here is the backup camera view. I got mine on ebay for $499 free shipping. Sometimes better to shop smart than shop local. ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1402331401.448104.jpg
