There was another thread on this a while ago. One of the guys down under responded and said they had them as well. I loved them in my other vehicles as I park in public garages/areas a lot. It should be a option in the EVIC, fold mirror upon park

Add it to the list of simple smart features the WK2 OVerland is missing.

Re: Power fold-away

I used to be on the Ford Taurus forums. A few intrepid users were importing power-folding mirrors from Australia to install on their cars. Was cool and fairly easy. They didn't have to contend with an equivalent to the EVIC system, however.... Just had to cut the hole for the switch in the door panel.

Re: Power fold-away

Back when I had my 05 Limited GC, I added OEM power folding mirrors from an 06 Overland which did come with them stock. So unfortunately I dont have experience doing this on a WK2, but on the WK1 it was pretty easy. All I had to do was acquire the OEM power folding mirrors, I purchased the OEM mirror switch that has the folding option, then installed them. I think the guys at WKJeeps actually used my writeup if you want to look more into it. On my 05 Limited I did NOT need to do anything with body control modules, or the EVIC, or have the dealer program anything. All I did was attach the mirrors and mirror switch like stock, and added the additional required wires from the folding pinout on the switch to both mirrors. Worked 100% perfect and OEM.
I can see finding OEM power folding mirrors for the WK2's to be pretty difficult since that options is not available in the USA. It was easier for me since the 2006 Overlands had power folding mirrors so the parts were in the U.S.

Hope this helps.

Re: Power fold-away

Yes, the power folding mirrors would have been an awesome option to have on the WK2, but I'm just glad it has folding mirrors at all!
My last car didn't have folding mirrors at all!! Ridiculous! I was always worried my mirrors were going to get ripped off......LOL

Re: Power fold-away

So, let's contact a dealer in AUS and get the price for these from their parts dept. I notice there are forum members located in AUS, how about it? Care to make a local call to get the information?

Re: Power fold-away

If you are contacting Aussie dealers for prices, be prepared for a huge shock.
Generally speaking, Jeep parts are priced at a premium once they arrive in Australia. You could be looking at 4 to 5 times the price as in USA.
As a guide, check prices @ Mopar Australia http://www.mopar.com.au/
Also, to compare the differences between the GC AUS and the GC USA, see here http://www.jeep.com.au/grand-cherokee . You may also take note of the prices, if you feel you have been hard done by. There are subtle differences in both locations models, with parts removed for export. Such as in AUS, we cannot get the front tow hooks on the car's. Jeep even cut the front chassis shorter so that they cannot be retrofitted. On the flipside, we do have the 3.0 diesel motor, which is a huge hit.

Indeed....

What we are looking for is not made available in the US. "Power folding, heated exterior mirrors" are not even an option here. That is the item for which we would need a parts price in AUS. Perhaps we will have to wait until some of the WK2s have headed to the boneyard before we can get these from AUS for anywhere near a "reasonable" price.

I would really like to see a picture of the interior door panel with the mirror switch installed, along with a video of the mirror "in action" (folding/unfolding).
