Re: Power fold-away

I just want them because I want another button to push that does something. However, I once backed up and my passenger side mirror caught a small tree and just simply folded backwards rather than get ripped off. If it had a power folding mechanism, I'm sure the gears would have stripped or otherwise try and rip off the mirror.

it's not how it works, my BMW has power folding and it still gives just like a normal one.

Re: Power fold-away

Are there any updates to getting the part numbers and prices of this option here in the U.S.?

I'd really like to add this feature (which IMHO, should have ALREADY been at least an option on the Overland models).

Our best bet is going to be if our members in Australia (or Europe) take pity on us and get part numbers and pricing so we can order them as replacement parts from across the pond (not Amy or Rory*).

*Geek reference....

Re: Power fold-away

You may find there is a lot more to the folding option than just the mirrors.
The switch on the drivers side control is different to the non folding ones, we do not have LED's turn signals in our mirrors (ours are on the fenders) and the wiring is most likely different.
I have never used this "feature" as I keep forgetting I have it. I would like it to auto fold when you turn the car off.

This should be relatively easy to accomplish using relays (perhaps a diode or two) and tapping a wire that is only hot when the vehicle is in the "run" mode. A timing circuit or timed relay may be useful if you wish the mirrors to stay in normal position for a while after the vehicle is shut down.
