I just ordered the 3M pre-cut kit from invisible mask and im hoping its something I can tackle myself. I only paid a little over 200 bucks for everything on the front of the car. Comes with installation DVD and all the tools needed. I am pretty handy doing fine detail stuff like this and have even done some basic window tinting before. I just didnt want to spend almost a grand to get it installed professionally. We will see what happens.

I was going to order a kit too. I am halfway handy but know my limits. I would be throwing away a couple hundred bucks. I would give the easier parts a shot but the front with all the curves has me leery. Let us know ow it turns out.

Yeah I agree with you on this. I didn't want to mess with all the hard work and the time it took to install so I paid an installer to put it on for me. Even watching him putting on the clear film was painfully difficult at times espcially on the curved sections of the front and rear bumpers. The rear bumper was more difficult than the front due to the curvature where it meets the rear hatch. It took the installer a good 5 hours to wrap the front and rear bumpers, front fenders, hood, front roofline area before panoramic roof and all four door edges. You can see some pics of the install in my previous message in this thread: Price check on 3M paint protection..

I paid $599. Full 3M coverage on front bumper, front of fenders and hood. As well as door edges on front and rear doors. Not sure about mirrors, but they might put a bit on there as well.

I will say if you've never done it DON'T try it! It is very difficult I've watched it plenty of times and it's an art form!

Re: Price check on 3M paint protection.

Just the front of the hood and fenders cost me $170 installed using 3M material. I did not do the bumper, but was quoted an additional $60 if I had. It was highly recommended no to put any clear film on the chromed plastic pieces (chome grille, mirrors, etc). I understand it can cause the chome to delaminate from the plastic.

Not bad. I was told too not to do the chrome.

Re: Price check on 3M paint protection.

While I did not do the whole front end. I did the headlights. I had them done on 2 vehicles ive had in the past. After a while the clearbra got pock marks and a lil beat up. Never really liked how they looked at certain angles. So this time around, I've decided against it.

Along with the headlights I did the door pockets ... because the women in my life think they are Freddy Kruger and have an uncontrollable urge to scratch the $hit outta the area behind the door handles. All the cars I've owned in the past had these marks when ever women were transported on a regular basis. It was either 3M the doors or bring back chivalry ... haha. I tried taking pictures but they came out too blurry with my cell phone. After my next wash i'll have to grab the DSLR and snap off some pics.
