Re: ProTrim Windshield Sunshade Review & Pics

I need to mention that I bought this sun shade base on this thread and couldn't be happier. Really nicely made product and you can install/deinstall without messing up the rear-view mirror...cut very precise. I wish I could get a similar one for my other half's Outback, but they don't make them for it. The Weathershield screen she has bites the big one when it comes to ease of use and leaves annoying marks on the glass from the stupid suction cups!

Re: ProTrim Windshield Sunshade Review & Pics

I guess I should add that my wife uses the shade religiously while she is parked outside at her office and no signs of wear or anything after 9 months. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one!

Re: ProTrim Windshield Sunshade Review & Pics

I've had mine for about 2 weeks now, and I have to say, it works.

Regarding fitment, it fits, but it's not an exact fit to the windshield. I have about a 1/4" gap on the top and bottom mostly. It tends to hang a little bit as well, the sunvisors don't go all the way back to press it to the glass.

The little bag is a nice touch, and matches my Overland's black with silver piping interior. There's not really any good places to store it in the Jeep that are easily accessed, so I just toss it on the floor in the backseat.

I can't say that it's doing much to keep the truck cooler when I get in, maybe a little but not a massive difference. But, I mainly got it to keep the sun off my leather dash, and it does a pretty good job at that.

Overall, it's not a miracle sunshade, but it's not bad and looks nicer.

My friend at work just got a new Mustang GT and a Ford sunshade that looks quite similar, but without the bag. He got his for free for having to wait 4 months for his car to be delivered, but apparently they sell them in the range of $100 normally. So that makes this sunshade look like a bargain(or people that buy the OEM one look like suckers... not sure which).

Re: ProTrim Windshield Sunshade Review & Pics

FAUEE, I just fold mine and slide it between the front seats so it rests on the back of the console and on the center of the back seat most of the time. Easily accessible to me and since most of the time, I'm the only one in the car, not obtrusive. When there are passengers, it gets moved around.

Re: ProTrim Windshield Sunshade Review & Pics

I got this sunshade and there's an older 2009 Limited in black parked right next to me that belongs to a woman I work with. Since my 2012 Overland is black forest green this was an ideal test.
I put the shade in on a fairly hot day last week. She doesn't have one. At about 4:00 we opened our cars. There was no question her interior was hotter and you could just about fry an egg on her dash. Mine was only warm. Considering that I have a leather covered dash that alone is worth it. My friend even bought on for his MDX after seeing the difference for himself.
Leather doesn't like sun and heat, so this is a inexpensive little helper.

My old sunshade from nflshop.com doesn't fit our WK2 so I'm going to buy one of these. It's expensive, but still only about 1/2 the price of the MOPAR shade.

I picked one up after noting the posts here and have been quite happy with it.
The construction is pretty heavy duty...
You can either just stuff it into the gap at the front of the dash and it will stay up and in place even on incredibly hot days, or you can just set it at the front of the dash and use the sunvisors to hold it in place.

Amazon appears to be out of them at the moment.

Re: ProTrim Windshield Sunshade Review & Pics

It's not going to get so hot, it will cook the rear view mirrors or any other electronics between the shade and windshield, will it?

I have a dash camera and radar detector up front. Makes me worried about those devices.

I've never had that experience, no. Anyways it has an opening for those electronics, the mirror, etc.

I honestly don't see how you could fit any electronics between the shade and the windshield.

If you just jam the front edge into the window/dash, the shade will be within an inch of the windshield all the way from the bottom to the top of the shade.

If you just set the front edge on the dash and use the visors to hold it in place, it sets right against the windshield.
