Push Button Start Question

I've looked around on the forum and although there are topics discussing the push button start, I could never find the answer to my question.

Am I able to add the push button to my base 2012 GC Laredo. I know you can purchase them from Mopar so I was jw if it would work. I do not have the Keyless go package.

Thanks!

Re: Push Button Start Question

I thought all 2011+ Grand Cherokees came with keyless enter-n-go and the push button start?

My 2011 Laredo E has those features. Did Jeep pull some cost cutting BS in 2012?

Re: Push Button Start Question

i thought they all came with it. I would imagine if you go to the dealer they can program the key and install a module if not

Re: Push Button Start Question

Not the 2012's. I wonder how much it would cost to have done. I guess I will call the dealership tomorrow.

Re: Push Button Start Question

I had this question for my 2011 Laredo. There is a way to find out if you have the feature. I was told that all 2011's came with it. They told me to press the brake pedal and take the eraser end of a pencil and carefully push it in to the ignition. If it starts then all you have to do is go to the dealer and purchase one. Mine cost about $15.00.
Hope it works out for you.

Re: Push Button Start Question

Hey guys, this is my first post here so go easy on me lol. I also have a 2011 JGC Laredo and was wondering if the trick of stepping on the brake and sticking your finger in the ignition would work. Low and behold it does! Now my question is: where can I buy the actual start button?

Re: Push Button Start Question

On the base 2012 Laredo, the vehicle will not start by pushing in the key hole with your finger. I went over to the dealership today and they said that i needed a module that was around $150 or so. Plus the Push button itself which is over $10 plus labor. Was not as simple as just getting the button.

All 2011 GCs should come with the button. Check in the glove compartment, center storage bin or where the spare tire is. Button should be somewhere there. If not, go to the dealer and demand one!

Welcome by the way!

Thanks! I actually looked in all those places but didn't find anything. I just went to my local dealer and picked one up for $20 and voila!
