Maaaaan......not a happy camper. Got these Putco Halogen bulbs a few months ago. Just noticed last night one was out, so I looked....and they melted both of the fog reflectors.

Have an email to the company I bought them from, which is also who recommended them to see what they are going to do or what the manufacturer is going to do.

Any ideas? I know this had happened on the LEDs, but hadn't read anything on the Halogens....

Wattage on those Putco bulbs is like 35 or 37.5w...I think factory is 22w or so. Why should the manufacture or anyone cover bulbs that you use in a housing that was not designed to accept that high of a wattage? It is going to be even worse if you drive with them on all the time.

FWIW, new housings on Amazon are like $21.

Hey, It was nice speaking with you. I'm just waiting on confirmation from Putco but am working to make sure this gets taken care of. We have sold many of these bulbs without ANY issues.

Steve
Thanks Steve!

Anyone thinking of doing biz with Xenon Depot, I highly recommend them. They stand behind their products  and have stellar customer service. Glad that they are here on Jeep Garage!!!

It truly is an odd scenario though....

Here is a link to the housings for when it happens again...and it probably will.

This is a common problem with people on the Tahoe forum as well when they put a 37.5w bulb in a housing only designed to accept an OEM 25w or so bulb. I wish someone would make a true replacement bulb. I have tried the Putcos before and they did not snap in securely enough for me, even after modifying the tabs.

Hope it does end up working out for you, bud... It's been my experience (one time) that Putco makes quality stuff, XenonDepot on the other hand, in a word... Sucks.
I had a simuler issue with them. I was recommended a bulb from their site, thinking they were the "profesonals" I ordered their suggested product. Once I received the product it was the wrong one for my ride. After months of emails and phone calls they finally issued a refund, minus the restocking fee, and postage..

xenon depot and putco FTMFW

I have bought LED from every bulb place out there.

the only ones who ever did ANYTHING for me when i had an issue were both Steve at Xenon Depot and Putco.

go read the warranty at some other popular LED sites. so have no warrantee, some have 30-90 days. max. there are no cash refunds. first time I heard of a bulb seller PAYING for the melted housings PLUS the bulbs. you all might like to think they will ALL do this but you are mistaken. improper install or some other excuse......not from putco or xenon depot. they are HERE giving answers and support/

i got a call from the owner of putco when i had a problem. some of these other places you cant even get thru customer service/

Thanks robpp! We certainly do our best to take care of our customers =) Unfortunately, we get calls daily from customers that need to replace a component that was purchased from a different vendor that now can't be reached...

akimball: It was good speaking with you bud!
