Question foe those who have installed skid plates...

Why does the transfer case skid plate have a heavy weight mounted to the one corner?

Re: Question foe those who have installed skid plates...

I think it acts like a spacer. It is either that or to counter balance the vehicle from tipping over.

Sorry... i am of no use.

Cheers,
-A

Yeah but if it's just a spacer, it wouldn't need to weigh 10lbs. The other theory doesn't seem accurate either. A ten pound weight isn't going to influence the weight balance of a 5,000lb. truck.

Re: Question foe those who have installed skid plates...

The weight acts as a vibration damper since that corner of the skid plate is unsupported.
