Question for those of you with color matched door handles

I ordered a set of genuine Mopar white handles to color match my GC, but I noticed the paint on the rears has an almost rubberized feel to it. That's the best description I can think of; It doesn't feel hard like normal paint does. The front handles have the feel too, but to a lesser extent; they feel closer to what I would have expected.

So do your rear handles feel like this; is this normal?

Re: Question for those of you with color matched door handles

You are probably feeling the sensor part that unlocks the car when you touch the handle.

Re: Question for those of you with color matched door handles

These are the rear handles I'm referring to. I compared them to the chromes currently on it and they also don't have the inner plastic part that your fingers would grab. Just plain paint.

Gotta say I might have the chromes painted and return the rears; not impressed at all with the quality.

Re: Question for those of you with color matched door handles

I switched out the painted door handle on the Silver 2011 for chrome ones and I noticed that paint on the inside of the door handle does feel gummy.

I then decided to try and paint them Deep Cherry since I had sold off the ones that came on My Deep cherry 12.

The paint is gummy on the rear door handles and one started to peel.

The project has been sidelined for now but I is a bitch to disassemble the door handle to do a color change so I would advise anyone wanted painted handle to bite the bullet and just order them unless you have a buddy you can organize a trade with.

Re: Question for those of you with color matched door handles

I have a brilliant black High Altitude. Front handles have a textured plastic on the inside. Rears are painted so do feel a little gummy as you say. It's normal.

You might look into getting these covers painted. I just got some and had them painted white. Then popped them right over the chrome handles. https://www.ebay.com/itm/222000831639

Thanks and it totally is. I really wanted color matched handles and didn't mind paying for them but was concerned about the installation. Then I found those on eBay for $40 and paid $75 to be painted. All I did was wash and cleaning with alcohol and stuck them on. They have 3M on the back from the seller already.

Did the same. 30 Euro chinese doorhandles + 30 Euro paintshop. Better then switching and you can " easily remove them " for repainting cause of scratches

Now THAT looks like a much less expensive option!
