Question Question.... Paint/Vinyl/Plasti Dip trim?

Hello everyone this is my first post so bear with me.

I did a search but did not find WHY one is better than the other.

I have a 2014 GC Limited with a ton of Chrome and I want to start getting rid of it. On past vehicles I with just remove and paint. I see a lot of people using Vinyl and plasti dip.

Just looking for some suggestions/advise/thoughts on why one might be better than the other.

Honestly I have never used plasti dip and not sure I like the way it looks so this will be more between paint and Vinyl. Durability/cleaning/ease of application are my main concerns.

Thank in advance!

Re: Question.... Paint/Vinyl/Plasti Dip trim?

Paint is "permanent"...requires proper prep and work. Can be expensive
Vinyl is semi-permanent...requires good installation skill and can degrade in time from the elements
Plastidip is temporary...easy to use; inexpensive, but not a long-term durable solution.

Re: Question.... Paint/Vinyl/Plasti Dip trim?

I have vinyl wrapped a few chrome pieces, but will be pulling them off to be painted. I think color matched will look better. If you are ok with not matching the color of your vehicle, then I'd say go with wrap. Make sure whoever installs it knows what they are doing.

I am only going to have a few (Summit specific) parts painted. The rest I am going to swap out for factory painted parts, like the mirror caps and door handles.
