Looking to switch to Rain X washer fluid. Manuel states that it could interfere with the rain sence system. Before i make the change; Anyone using Rain X experience any issues with your rain sensor system?
Been using it for 10+ years (both green and orange) on various types of vehicles and never had an issue. YMMV of course but it's been my go to since I can remember.
Sorry. Just a failed gif of a stunned WWF wrestler in an attempt to be funny. For me, if the manual states that the product might interfere with the system, I would not use it. But I'm just a boring, no-risk taker on my 2015 45K+ JGC Overland.
I used to use it my 2013. It coats the tank sensor so it always says you have no fluid. The sensor had to be taken out and cleaned, and then it worked fine. Never went back to the stuff. Which is too bad, because I like the product.
After 3 years in my daughter's Grand Am the nozzles and lines were getting restricted.....ran a litre of alcohol through and all is good.....but, not using anymore.
as stated the level p/u sensor senses by conductivity and gets coated by RainX and may lose its ability to "sense"...mine did on my '14 Summit, dealer puled out sensor, cleaned it gratis and said, "did you read your manual?" regular fluid for me from now on....
Search here on the forum.
The short answer is yes, if you have the electric sensor in your washer system, RainX will not work with it. And, you may have fun cleaning it afterwards to get it to work again.
There is nothing really that magic about Rain-X. If you want to try something like that, get one of the solid treatments and buff it onto your windshield.
Personally think it sucks, but YMMV.
