Re: Rear Brow Removal?

Nice, my next project. I have the steel blue so I will opt for gloss black.May even keep the little lock/unlock button chrome so it is easy to see.

Re: Rear Brow Removal?

So if I was to order the cheaper one which is not on backorder but doesn't have the camera cutout, I could just pop off the outer bit and swap it with the chrome one on the car, despite the fact that my car has a reversing camera?

Re: Rear Brow Removal?

They're not on backorder. I bought mine (Brilliant Black with camera cut out for $166 and with shipping it was $181) end of June and got it on July 2nd from moparonlineparts.

Yep!
No reason at all to order the more expensive part you don't need and spend three times the installation time to remove the rear tailgate interior trim to get at the the rear brow mounting points. Just pop off your chrome brow trim and botton and replace w/ the painted versions! Done in 10 minutes

So by popping off just the chrome brow trim, does the lock button come off too? And when replace the painted brow trim, does it come with the lock button? Or does the lock button chrome piec need to be popped off separately?

The lock button is held in by a piece of rubber separate from the brow. When you pop off the chrome, the button may stay on the housing or may slip off. Again, it just sits in a piece of rubber and is not attached to the brow.

I don't know if a new brow will come with a new button.

Re: Rear Brow Removal?

The new brows come with a painted button, no matter which one you choose of the 4 from the Altitude.

Re: Rear Brow Removal?

Thanks Dolla and JGC.
Would you guys suggest what raptor said. Buy the cheaper part with out the camera cut out and just replace the chrome brow trim? Sounds easier but I don't know if it would be the right way to go.

Re: Rear Brow Removal?

I can't say for sure since I didn't try the method of just popping off the outer chrome shell. I needed to replace the whole thing anyway because the chrome brow at it's plastic base was coming out on both sides on my Jeep. The idea of ordering the part without the back up camera and just replacing the outer chrome shell and chrome button with the Altitude (brilliant black or black) outer shell sounds like the way to go.

Thanks guys. To guys been extremely helpful. I have a 2012 grand Cherokee in white that pretty soon will be replacing the liftgate chrome brow, grill, and the door bumpers I believe they are with the grand cherokee letters. I guess we're all still waiting for the headlight parts as I been reading. This is a great forum and I'm stoked I found it. Thank you all.

Yes, do this. When removing the rear brow, just grasp the bottom and start pulling. You will not break it. When you get enough of a gap, use a hobby knife to slice through the double-sided tape - that's what's really securing the rear brow.

You can install your new brow without replacing the tape, but I recommend going to home depot and getting a small roll of 3M doublesided automotive moulding tape for peace-of-mind.

Re: Rear Brow Removal?

Any of you guys swapping out the license plate lights? I just ordered the rear strip and was thinking that I might as well try to stick some LED's in there, but dont know if its worth it.
