Question Rear Cargo Lift Gate -Clips yellow vs green

I was replacing the rear cargo lights with LED's and noticed there were two different colored-clips that hold the panel to the tail gate (panel is resting in the cargo area). Can someone please post a link to the "green" clip below? I was able to find the yellow clip pictures (I think: Trim Panel Retainers) but could not locate the green clip. The green ones are a little longer and not as wide...you may need to zoom in on the pic below...

Any help is greatly appreciated...thanks in advance!

I can't tell which retainer you are speaking of. I only see the yellow ones. When I had my panel off I was able to reuse all my retainers. Did you break or lose one?

If you look closely in the picture, by the metal latch where the cargo door locks, you will seen a light-colored green plastic tab (yellow ones are to the left)...

It did not break, but I can tell it is not as "fresh" as when first installed. Were all of your rear cargo cover clips the same color?

It appears these are the yellow ones:

Or is it these:

And this is not them, but they look very similar but are a slightly lighter-colored green

Re: Rear Cargo Lift Gate -Clips yellow vs green

These are the two different clips you are speaking of that hold the rear hatch panel in place. I believe there are a total of 4 green ones and they are in the the corner slots towards the bottom of panel. The rest are all yellow ones. The yellow ones can be removed and stay in perfect condition, the green ones tend to need to be replaced if you want it back together as good as factory. They are reusable, just won't be as tight.

So these are the green clips I need even though they say Ford?

Ford Door Trim Panel Retainer Green Nylon

Thanks for your help! You for sure correct; the yellow ones are reusable...but one of the green clips lost its integrity so those are definitely going to be replaced for tight fitment. Thanks again!!

Re: Rear Cargo Lift Gate -Clips yellow vs green

The green Ford one you linked to doesn't look anything like the right one so don't buy that. However, the yellow clip you posted above does look like the correct green one. The ones I took a picture above ARE the clips used to hold the panel on. The only writing on the clip is the letters POM. I did a brief search on some online mopar parts stores and saw the diagram for the rear liftgate, but it did not list the clips used to hold it on. I'm sure if you called a dealer parts department they can get you the right clips.
I also did a quick search on ebay and saw a lot of clips that looked like the right ones. Hard to say though so I would just call Jeep and get the right part numbers. You can use my picture and print it out if you want to bring it to a dealer because those are the actual liftgate trim clip retainers.

The ones in the link (Ford) you provided do not look the same at all as the ones JTS97Z28 posted pics of, tJeep ones appear to have a larger diameter cover(for lack of the correct term)?

Can you re-post the picture you mentioned? I could not see it in your first post...so that is why I had posted the wrong link (I thought you meant they were the right ones, my bad!). So are you saying the yellow one I posted looks like the proper green one? Sorry for the confusion...I will contact a Jeep dealer and post the part #'s once I figure it out. Thanks for your help!

Re: Rear Cargo Lift Gate -Clips yellow vs green

From what I noticed, the 4 longer green retainers are there to align the panel to the liftgate, then all the yellow retainers will pop back into their respective hole. Works pretty well. Now getting the upper inside liftgate trim off is more involved and practically guarantees that you will break one of the plastic tabs on the trim. Well, at least I did when I installed the LED taillights which required running a wiring harness to tap into the 3rd brake light. But it didn't make any difference since that trim piece is held in so well by the rest of the clips along with the bottom trim panel which overlaps it on each side.

I tried looking up the part numbers for the green clip retainers, I believe the part # is 68087885AA - Green Pin Retainer - 4 required.
The yellow retainers should be part # 68085677AA - Yellow Clip - 12 required.
