Rear lower bumper fascia

Hey guys. I am new here today. My question is, I want to remove my factory hitch and want to know if I can do it by just removing the lower black fascia on the rear bumper. It looks like I can but not sure. I have seen a write up on here but it shows that you have to take off the painted bumper as well. If removing just the lower fascia will do it, how do I seperate it from the painted part of the bumper? Thanks in advance. Al 2011 Grand Cherokee

I don't think it's too hard. The aftermarket ones go on and off without removing anything. The stock fits through the lower fascia so i would think you have to at least remove the trim piece around the hitch on the lower fascia to get it out. I'm in the market for a factory tow hitch. Are you anywhere near Northeast Ohio? maybe we can swap lower fascias and some money for the hitch & wiring. Send me a message if you're interested

there are several clips and parts to taking apart the fascia from the bumper, I had to do it several times and honestly its much easier to just take the bumper off

Re: Rear lower bumper fascia

Also to eugene3524 Do I need any special tools to remove the lower fascia like a plastic trim removal tool. Looks like a flat piece of plastic would release the clips.

Re: Rear lower bumper fascia

No special tools needed, it will just come apart by unsnapping the clipped in plastic pieces
