REar Seat folding

Just bought a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. WOW amazing truck! Traded in my 370Z so its been a bit of an adjustment. I'm sure I will have many questions but I wanted to start with a dumb one ...

Is there any way to fold up just the lower section of the rear seats? I would like to store a few things under the seats, thought it would be better to lift it up than to just shove things under. This is if there was a way to lift it.

Got to store my end of the world gear somewhere !

Thanks

Re: REar Seat folding

The seat bottoms do not come up. There are bins under the rear cargo floor next to the spare that offer some additional storage plus an empty bin near the rear seat backs next to the compartment with the jack I think (can't remember what is in it).

Re: REar Seat folding

There is usable storage space below the rear seats, if you can fit the items through the openings at the floor.

I keep my netbook and tablet there, along with various umbrellas (including a large golf umbrella). Others have mounted amplifiers there.

Re: REar Seat folding

Just remember that when you fold the seat backs down that the seat will lower.

Check for clearance.

Re: REar Seat folding

I have a safe with cable lock to store valuables (wallet, camera, etc.) when at the beach or camping. And under the rear seat seems like an unlikely location for a thief to check.

Re: REar Seat folding

I do like the safe idea. Does it slide around much?

Note to self, start looking under seats !

Re: REar Seat folding

The safe sits nicely against the plastic toward the front of the seat. I have attached a photo.
