My ball mount is aluminum, and I put an aluminum weld on it. If you use steel or aluminum, as long as you remove the hitch once or twice a year, and put a little grease (or dielectric grease) on the mount, it shouldn't ever stick. If, in a rare case it sticks, just put a tow strap attached to a large tree, and you can free up almost any stuck ball mount.
