Receiver Step/Tow Point

Looking for a combo step and tow point. Does anyone know if this will interfere with the backup camera or sensor.

Amazon.com: Smittybilt 27046B Beaver Step for 2" Hitch: Automotive

If you have a different one to recommend that will be great. thanks!

Re: Receiver Step/Tow Point

I've been looking at that one too. Seems like it would "deter" bumper damage.

Doesn't interfere with BU Cam on mine at all. In fact it provides a perfect spearhead/aiming point at reverse ramming speed.

Re: Receiver Step/Tow Point

It'll work as a step hitch and not block your rear camera view. However I'd be careful using it as a tow point as that is not what is designed for.

They do show it on their website as a guess a recovery point, maybe not tow

Re: Receiver Step/Tow Point

Do you mean the hitch or the step?. I'm reading the step will provide 10,000 pounds of tow. And a 4×4 JGC v6 will carry 6,200 pounds, no?

For that !@#$!@$# in the BMW right on your rear bumper?

There is another thread here somewhere for these, where the consensus is that they do help avoid expensive damage to the rear backup sensors when encountering dingwits at lower speeds.

The camera is above them, just above the license plate, and you can see a hitch adapter object if it sticks out very far.
