Re: Recent Mods: Removed Chrome Door Molding, Grille Swap, Tow Hooks, LED Fogs & RRO

A couple quick pics of the lift installed on the factory tires - yes, they will be changed soon (275/60r20). I still haven't driven because....

My tails just arrived
They look even better in person. I wanted dark enough to blend in well with my Brilliant Black paint but still have enough red when up close. I called it Medium, Scott referred to them as "Cherry Coke". I agree. From a few feet they look black and up close you can see the red. Just what I wanted.

Hopefully, the light output from the SilverStar turns and the LED lift-gate bulbs will be good.

And, the major bonus - the Wife thought they looked amazing, now only if she will let me send out here R350 tails... don't think I can do that without her noticing.

Tails are installed... they look amazing. Thanks Scott of Scott's Tinted Tails.

Here's a few pics. Last one is of the blinker - only took two attempts to capture. I couldn't apply the brake and get a photo - home alone today.

Your ride is sick man, makes me want to lift mine. But my GC is for the wife and new baby + my wrangler is has a lift. Could you tell me how I can get ahold of the person that tinted your tail lights.

Good to see a few people from MD on here. I grew up in Rockville.

Here is a pic inside of a parking garage with the lights on.

Congrats on the new family addition, my daughter is 4-months old. I don't think my wife would like the Jeep as her DD but I like to think that my daughter loves riding in the Jeep

Thanks for the info on Scott! I will contacted him today. I think I'm am going to tint my entire tail lights black. Yours looks great with the white piece white specially since you have that chrome piece on the bottom of your bumper. The lines look really good. Mine does not have that chrome piece since it is a Laredo.

Thanks for the congrats! Congrats to you guys as well. My son just turned 5 months. I bet just like us you guys aren't sleeping much ?

I was also wondering if you could tell me how to remove the tail lights and what tools I would need. I haven't really looked at it yet but I'm hoping that it is pretty simple?

Ya, I debated the all black and went with the clear (untouched) reverse lights because I thought the lines would be a good balance with the chrome strips. You could also do the reverse section a lighter tint...

Actually, and you will hate to hear this, our daughter goes to bed around 10 (when we do) and sleeps soundly until 5:00/5:30 - which is when we get up anyway.

The outside lenses are easy. Pop out the push-pin retainers with a small flat head screwdriver and then gently pull. Not to far because the light cables are short. The tailgate lenses require removing the interior panel in the lift-gate. Just work your away around gently pulling the plastic pins (you may need to get a few replacement ones from AutoZone or similar). Then remove the small bolts holding the lenses. There are also two on the side of the lift-gate. Then, they pop out.

I didn't mess with the 3rd brake light as you'd have to remove the spoiler, and since you don't notice the red that much - at least with the black paint - I decided to leave it be. The bumper reflectors pop right out from the back-side.

If you don't have a garage you will want to tape off some plastic over the lift-gate lens holes in-case it rains as they lead right into the cargo space.

Good Luck, and post some pics when you are done.
