Remove airbag stickers on visors?

Has anyone removed the warning stickers on the visors and, if so, how? I've read that rubbing alcohol works, but I'm not sure how it would affect the fabric.

Re: Remove airbag stickers on visors?

there are some threads on this and people have used heat guns and goo gone and other things. problem is if you do pull the sticker off there is the area of glue that stays there and looks like hell. have not seen a really solid way to do it so far, im all ears if any one ever comes up with a way though.

Re: Remove airbag stickers on visors?

I managed to get it to a satisfactory point on the Alcantara headliner, but it's very tricky IMO to get the combination of solvents and heat correct. If you're looking for it, it's possible to tell something was removed, but unless you're focusing on it it blends in and looks much better than the glaring stickers there.

Re: Remove airbag stickers on visors?

I hate having this crap that I can't remove from MY expensive vehicle! I tried with so-so results using water, goo remover, and abrasive pad.

It is better than the brightly colored warning label in languages I don't speak. I suggest experimenting on the passenger visor first.

Airbag Warning Sticker Removal

That first photo is the angle/exposure that showed the finished product in the *worst* light possible, so it looks even better than that. I wanted to show it that way because people considering this are probably doing it for aesthetics.

All the other photos in the post are of work in progress. And no, the fake suede isn't scorched.

There's no glue left in the heat/goo gone approach. The only issue is that removing the sticker inevitably takes a practically-negligible amount of the fake suede fringe with it, as can be seen in the photo of the removed stickers in the other thread. I *know* there's no glue remaining on the visor because a year after the procedure was conducted the sticker's former outline has *not* reappeared (i.e. due to dust and such getting stuck to remaining adhesive).

From my perspective it's like they were never there.

Let me put it this way: do you want to remove the stickers and have to deal with a former sticker border that you can *maybe* see if you are looking hard from the (in)correct angle, or do you want to stare at garish yellow/white/black stickers that are intentionally designed to stab you in the eye in an aesthetic sense and that will eventually become cracked and nasty looking?

Agree lol anything is better than that eyesore they put there.i mean if they have to put them there they really come up with something a little less idiotic looking that looks like a 7 year old came up with. Probably going to give a try but going to practice on a similar cheapy from a junk yard first.

Re: Remove airbag stickers on visors?

I stopped by a local upholstery shop after having pulled these stickers off several cars and never being 100% happy. To rewrap , not over but OE finish them in top grain leather with a baseball stitch on the trailing edge, he said $175 and most vinyl or cloth $100, not my usual shop just a quick stop out of curiosity. While I'm always the doubter, down here we have a thousand marine interior shops that I know have done far more difficult custom touches. Y'all got me thinking about doing it, how much is a drivers side mirror?

Re: Remove airbag stickers on visors?

Thanks all for the input! I might give the heat gun approach a try and hope for the best. I'd like to get it done soon before the exposed area begins to fade and make removal even more noticeable.

I do think it's ridiculous that they make it so damn difficult to take off these obnoxious stickers.

Remove airbag stickers on visors?

Be cool if someone made vinyl decal overlays cut to match.

Visor sticker thingy, got them for the vette long ago.
Some are better than others.
Cover up your ugly airbag warning stickers
Home Page
And on..
I'm going to order a visor and have it wrapped to see, I'd rather spend $100 than cover it or have it be visible at all after removal..

Thanks, the decals do seem like a cheap and somewhat acceptable solution. I might still try the heat gun approach.
