Remove Summit front Chrome Swoopy Thing

Otherwise known as the CST.

I am referring to the three piece chrome grill accent. I want to remove this to be painted. Does anybody have any step-by-step instructions?

Thanks!

Going to attempt removing this weekend. If anyone can help, I'd greatly appreciate it.

For reference, this is what I am referring to

I have had that whole lower airdam off before on summit. There are a number of metal clips that will pop in and out of place. some hold the airdam on and some the trim pieces. I didnt take the trim pirces off specifically so i cant say for sure but i think it may be hard to reach the back side of chrome without taking the airdam or the whole bumper cover off. You can reach the ones to the right and left but ones in center will have a lot of obstructions if i remember right. Good luck

Try searching on summit tow hooks a few people have taken the airdam or whole bumper cover off to put hooks on. Id recommend crawling under and taking a look first maybe you can reach what you need but it can be tight under there from what i temember and will be difficult

Re: Remove Summit front Chrome Swoopy Thing

The removal of the front bumper is so easy, I wouldn't even bother messing around trying to do it from underneath.

Re: Remove Summit front Chrome Swoopy Thing

Pretty sure you cannot remove the chrome without removing the airdam or bumper!.
The center chrome piece has screws that connects through the airdam (like Lego) to the outer chrome pieces.
you cannot get to those screws without removing the lower airdam - or bumber.

I recommend you do this in a garage that is at least summer like temperature as the whole thing may disintegrate in colder temperatures as a lot of bending/pulling is required to get the airdam/bumper off.

The metal clips Silvermax04 is talking about were white plastic clips on mine,

Thank you all! I got it removed. I did take off the bumper and grill to get to them.

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but do you remember having to mess with the fender trim at all to get the bumper off? Did you need to buy any replacement clips or anything or do they all just pop back in?
