Removed front fascia & detail today

Well I figured the only way to change the chrome fog bezels and the bottom chrome appliqué was to go ahead and pull the fascia. I have to say it is the easiest thing to do had it off in under 30 minutes. I realized once I had it off that this is an absolutely necessary move to change these items out. As I do not think you could ever do it without removing the fascia. The bezels were very easy to change remove 2 #10 torx screws in each one and they pop right out. The bottom appliqué is a little more involved with numerous clips and fasteners but with a little patience not to difficult. From start to finish around 3 1/2 hours. I was so happy with how everything turned out I decided to give the Overland a wash and a little Blackfire detail. Even did the engine compartment with some Optimum Opti bond. Hopefully I can get my LaminX done this week to finish everything off. Here are a few pics of the day's work.

It looks very nice! That's the way it should have come from the factory.

Re: Removed front fascia & detail today

Thanks for all the replies. No tickets only factory tint and 20% on fronts all legal. It's the no front plate that's going to get me sooner or later.

In NY 20% upfront is Illegal...I've been ticketed for mine. Its anything less than like 70% which is ridiculous cause anything more than 25%is not worth doing. $90/window. Just a heads up!

Dennisnyc40....... very nice Jeep!

What kind of wheels do you have? Where did you get them? Size/offset?

Did you replace the front grill inserts w/black honeycomb parts?

The grill rings with Altitude black ones?

Can you post part numbers on all please.

Thanks

Re: Removed front fascia & detail today

Man, that thing is really coming along and looks amazing!! I have a Summit and I plan on doing some similar things, but for us Summit guys its more difficult due to the chrome strips on the front/rear/side skirts, which are also dark gray compared to body color. So I have a little more work to do if I want to go the body color and de-chrome look.
Well atleast I started, my SRT gloss black tail light bezels are out for delivery today :-)

Dont forget to swap out the chrome bumper step pad trim piece for the gloss black one. Do you plan on doing that to complete the back end?

Re: Removed front fascia & detail today

Thanks raptor & Jt yes I have thought about doing the step pad. But it's getting to the point of where does it end. Then it'll be the door handles and window trim. I will probably leave everything as is for now. As next up is LaminX on heads & tails. Then the Exhaust just waiting for the 11 inch Magnaflows to show up from Cali. Going to remove the rear resonators and put these in there place.

Raptor the part#s you are looking for as follows
Gloss black grill rings # 68261150AA 184.95 free shipping
Black honeycomb grill # 68143074AD no price as My GC comes with them. But I would say around 50.00
The wheels are Savini BM 7's 20X10 purchased these from GetYourWheels in Cali. They can get you any wheel you want in any color you want for a good price. Really good place to deal with.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Re: Removed front fascia & detail today

Thanks for this! I was just taking a look at how to do this, getting ready to get back to dipping out the chrome, and wanted to make sure I wasn't thinking it was going to be easier than it looked. You and I have the same body colour. Do you have the door handles that unlock the car? Are you going to leave them chrome or try to cover that as well?

Re: Removed front fascia & detail today

Hi digg yes I have an Overland with the chrome door buttons. At this point the handles will be staying as is. I have seen and heard that changing handles out is a very big undertaking. One that I do not feel like tackling at this time. The only other exterior mod left on my to do list is possibly the rear step surround.
