Remove negative on battery.
The airbag is removed by using the holes on the back.of the wheel. You may not be able.to see them....but you can feel them. Then you need a flat bladed screw driver to.pop each side.of the airbag spring to.release it. Once released

..just unplus everything from.airbag. them youll see a huge torq bolt....remove and then use a steeringbwheel puller to pull wheel away from truck. You may have to.swap.some wires over etc.

Re: removing 2014+ steering wheel

any luck with this?
i actually have a 2014 srt wheel with all the wires and buttons and air bag. i have attempted to remove the large ass hex head screw. i am getting to the point where my screw head is stripping and i have gotten the thing to barely budge.
I was damn near ready to install it today... but the hex screw got me good. Had a nice beefy 10mm hex socket. and a nice 3/8" torque wrench. The only thing i dont have is a impact wrench..

got it wrapped up nicely and ready to install too

round 3 for me tomorrow, fingers crossed. have a 1/2" impact wrench. 25" 1/2" breaker bar, and 10mm 1/2" hex. Lucky i bought a replacement screw in case i needed one.

i am just wondering if there was a possibility of some sort of screw somewhere being used to lock this large hex screw in.

Re: removing 2014+ steering wheel

wow its that hard to remove the bolt huh? May just pay a shop to do it. It was pretty easy on my x5 when i swapped wheels, but it seems like a lot of trouble on the jeep....

@ufokillerz, nice wheel wrap! ill let you know when i get mine installed, if there are any tricks..

i got it done today. my original screw was stripped by the factory. Was very hard to remove. I was wondering my my old wheel was a bit wobbly.

I think that if your original screw was installed correctly, its a breeze. Only takes maybe 10-15 mins to swap.

i think you keep all functionality. I swapped into a Durango, so i might have some wiring differences i need to figure out.
My ACC/FCW system needs service again, i believe its from the rain and not related to steering wheel. Will test functionality when back.
Everything else works, paddles, left side of steering wheel controls, and all the buttons by the paddles.
My heated wheel does not seem to work, but maybe its due to the heat settings and it being somewhat warm out. The heated wheel was the biggest wiring difference for me which required buying the srt harness.

haven't done it yet. i need to find some wiring diagrams to figure it out. I just bought the SRT harness as that was the simplest thing for me to do. From pictures, i can tell that the regular WK2 wiring should be the same as my durango wiring. And the SRT does the heating element differently which requires a different plug for the heater.
I will have to get this figured out, but if you figure out before me, please do post! I'm guessing i will just have to work on the SRT harness a bit to figure it out, hopefully.

the srt harness should be plug and play, all the connectors needed are there. But i'm guessing somewhere the heating wiring is different.
