Removing Jeep logo from liftgate chrome strip

Have any of you that have debadged your Grand Cherokees, or are thinking about doing so, considered the possibility of shaving the embossed "Jeep" logo from the rear liftgate chrome strip and filling that area with resin or bondo or whatever before painting? Anyone have any thoughts on the feasibility of doing this?

As an alternate possibility, short of an aftermarket replacement strip eventually being produced (vendors take notice--a good idea, IMO), does anyone have any thoughts on the feasibility of fabricating a piece of aluminum to replace the strip--what gauge or thickness might work best, shaping and contouring the aluminum, and then reattaching it to the car?

Looking forward to hearing some creative ideas here!

+1 for an aftermarket strip.

Re: Removing Jeep logo from liftgate chrome strip

There is a chrome cover (no kidding) liftgate strip cover on ebay...I can't for the life of me figure out the point as it appears to be made to install right in top of the OEM part as the jeep logo appears to be cut out. Maybe half a solution of some sort there.

Re: Removing Jeep logo from liftgate chrome strip

My only concern filling would be whatever was used to fill would shrink/crack over time. Otherwise, I am in the same boat looking for a way to get rid of it.
I did see a strip at the dealer that had Cherokee in it instead of the Jeep logo
