That's pretty much what I plan on doing as well but add door handles and remove door moldings, I'm just not a fan of chrome and I'm a huge fan of the "murdured" look, but in general color matched to me just looks cleaner. Keep us updated!

I agree, I feel like it looks like a few new minivans on the market with that strip, plus like I mentioned just not a fan of chrome and between the chrome on the grill and the rear strip it's just ALOT!

I think the black strip would look better color matched.

Re: Removing liftgate chrome strip

The rear hatch chrome strip can be pryed off of the rear black wiring chassis without access via the rear liftgate interior panel. Note: go slow and be careful not to break the plastic strip as there are 8-10 stiff plastic tabs to disengage and 6 adhesive patches to pry loose. Take your time.

The lock button also is a separate piece that sits on top of a rubber bushing - do not loose it and reinstall before putting strip back on. You can see it still attached to the far right side of the bottom photo.

Re: Removing liftgate chrome strip

Scott's Paint & Performance in our Vendor section did the rear strip paint job with black letter outline surrounding the chrome Jeep logo. He's the man.

Wow, that looks fantastic!

Did the Jeep logo look odd without the black outline?

Re: Removing liftgate chrome strip

That looks freakin awesome, I really wish the Laredo came like this so we could possibly buy it NIB painted to match already! Just glad to see you can carefully pry it off, seemed like you could when I looked at it. I'd rather not pull the interior panel off.

My guess is that the area around the "Jeep" on the strip is a b!tch toso mask/paint so to lay some black pinstripe in there cleans it up, or just didn't to be different.

Re: Removing liftgate chrome strip

^it was my attempt at making it a bit more custom. the rest of the rig is badgeless, including the hood logo. +1 the outline is textured and made a good point of differentiation, though you can tell it was a PITA to mask off properly.

when i send in the side mouldings next to Scott for PS2 painting, I may send the extra hatch strip in for silver only to make a comparison look.

Well, The rear chrome strip, grill and mirror caps are off the jeep and waiting to be prepped and painted. Hopefully, I will have pics by this time next week.

Wow! Awesome. This is how it should have been from the factory! How much did this cost you?
