Anyone know how simple or complicated it might be to remove the lower grille plastic chrome piece? Also, when removed, could it just be left off, or would it leave an unsightly void in that area, or just not look right?
I just tried to remove it this afternoon and couldn't figure it out. There are four tension clips the hold it on the the bumper cover that are very easy to get off, but on the other side there are these chromed spikes that fit into v-shaped slots. I couldn't get the spikes out of the slots after a few tries and was running out of daylight so I just gave up. I'm sure there was a easy way to get it off, but my main goal was to not break anything.
With that said, I know it is possible to take off because some people on this forum have had theirs painted. My suggestion would to talk to one of them. Hope that helps!

I just cut off the v shaped spikes and used double sided 3m tape to re-install after getting that part painted. I removed mine when I had the front fascia off while installing my hid fog kit.
A Laredo doesn't have this piece at all. It's nekkid. I was actually thinking of buying this piece, because I like the looks of it. However, price is way too high if it's plastic. I thought it was metal.
